Why are Spurs so detested by Leicester exactly? I don't understand this. You even beat us to the title last year comfortably in the end. At what moment did you guys decide that Spurs were all of a sudden scum?

For me personally its not an out and out hatred for spurs.  Ive got a lot of spurs friends and I just find it hilarious to take the piss.

Yes I agree a hell of a lot of Spurs fans are deluded scum but we have to remember that on the most part they are human beings with feelings.

Everyone knows that all teams have great fans and knob head fans. That doesn't need to be said.

Ill tell you why I don't like Spurs. Fans that frequent the tripe that is The fighting cock simply could not accept that we played the best football last season. Whichever way you looked at it we pissed all over the league. We beat you by 11 points yet Spurs fans were adamant they played the best football. I'm sorry the points difference makes that argument completely invalid. (if it was by say a couple of points and it was just an unlucky decision that cost you a win I could understand, but 11 points is just ridiculous to try and argue)

We were getting some right idiots here spouting utter guff like 'teams want Leicester to win so they are letting you score'.

Arsenal fans would come on here and at least say to us 'fair play, you have been magnificent and deserve to win the league'

Not Spurs fans,

- We have the most possession

- We score the most goals

- We concede the least amount of goals

All nice stats to have but when you finish 11 points behind the Champions you cant have possibly played the best football across the season. I am still yet to meet a Spurs fan ( I work with a few of them) that can accept we were the deserving champions. It just leaves a sour taste and doesn't project your club in the best light.

Now don't get me wrong. I admire what you are doing at the moment. Great young squad with a lot of English talent that do play really good football. I'm not denying that you are on the up and are (begrudgingly) a better team. The title run in last season just left a sour taste in a lot of Leicester fans mouths.

I'm sure I speak for a lot of Leicester fans when I say we don't see you as a rival or anything like that, but that we lost a lot of respect for you after the way a lot of your fans acted and couldn't accept that we were deserving champions. It's not that I hate Spurs, I just don't like you (not you personally, im sure you are a nice chap) and find it highly amusing that you have failed to win a trophy again.

I'm sure you can guess what song will be sung constantly on Thursday, it involves a certain horse race lol.

Now Spurs fans can say all they want about us. Mid table fodder, more likely to be relegated out the 2 of us etc etc. BUT nothing will ever take away what we achieved last season and for me until you win the Premier League title we will always have the last laugh lol

Fair enough if that's how you feel. I would imagine there were a lot of bitter Spurs fans last season. For Leicester to come out of nowhere to win the title was perhaps a bitter pill to swallow after finally finishing above the other big sides in the league.

Addressing a couple of points, the 11 point gap wasn't really a true reflection as I believe we threw away the last 2 games as the title was gone. In my opinion this was massively frustrating and hugely unprofessional. Leicester won the league fair and square. No one can take that away from you. But at the time and I remember it well, it did feel like the whole country were willing you to win the league (as I would have, had we not been the last team to have been able to stop you from doing so). It felt unjust at the time as in our minds at least, teams were rolling over toward the end. (I remember Guidolin saying 5 mins before a game how much he hoped Leicester would win the title before they got spanked).

Again in terms of playing better football, that's hugely subjective. Personally I didn't like the brand of football Leicester played however you had to admire it. Like Atletico Madrid, you were massively successful playing counter attacking football (I understand that approach changed halfway through the year as early on you guys were great going forward and playing some cracking football).

I am in danger of sounding bitter again so I will choose to say this. I remember logging on after you were crowned champions congratulating Leicester for what was an historic achievement. I also said I was incredibly jealous and envious of what you as fans got to achieve. I really do hope we do win the title one day to experience what you guys felt.

When all is said and done though there was still no congratulations, just saltiness.

Anyway its in the past now. You keep going the way you are going and you may well have that title win under your belts. How do you feel for next season with you at Wembley? Could you still put up a title challenge next season after the way you played in the champs league this season at Wembley? It defo seemed to disrupt your play and galvanise the opposition

It is what it is. As I said, if we were not the last side chasing you, I would have been right behind Leicester myself and enjoyed it all so much more. I imagine if you put yourselves in the shoes of Spurs' fans a lot of you would have felt the same way. I did feel bitter, but you have to suck it up, and I was actually elated that Leicester won the title ahead of the usual suspects.

I would love to say yes, Wembley won't affect us but it inevitably will. I think it will be a good learning experience for the players and the club, but I certainly think the opposition will thrive at playing at Wembley more than us who have somewhat been affected. I do think the "Wembley hoo doo" is a little excessive as we lost to some good sides including Monaco and Chelsea. Leverkusen was disappointing, CSKA we beat and Gent, Alli got sent off after 30 mins or so before we drew chasing the game. Point is we won't play a Chelsea or Monaco every week, but we do make uncharacteristic errors at Wembley.

Title challenge will depend on how well we can adapt, and ultimately signings. We need much better strength in depth than what Janssen, Sissoko and N'Koudou were able to provide us with.

How about you guys? Surely Shakespeare will get the job now? Look like the Leicester of last year, so am really intrigued as to how well you could do.

This was me on 3 May 2016. There were quite a few messages of congrats from Spurs fans in that thread in the immediate aftermath of you becoming champions.

This summer recruitment is critical for us. Overall we blew it last summer. Shakespeare should get the job and with no European journeys to go on we may well be able to fight for a Europa league place. Will be interesting to see how the summer develops.

I guess you are desperate for a striker to help Kane out. Don't see why you don't go and bring Defoe back tbh. He could surely do a job for you.

The games you played at Wembley this season should have settled you down with the hoo doo going into the new season. I do wonder what will happen if a club came in for your better players offering double the wages if their heads would turn.

Still cant believe you got mugged off for Sissoko lol

You and me both. I can't for the life of me understand that one.

Love Defoe, but I think that's a player we don't need to revisit. I'd like to move forward and not look backwards and how sharp would he remain off the bench. I would imagine he wants to play football week in week out.

I'm happy to give Janssen time, but if we are realistic about really challenging we need a top class forward to compete with Kane. It's also time for Levy to open the chequebook in my eyes. The stadium costs are an easy excuse. There will always be an element of risk in signing players. Mitigate that risk by moving for the top players. Also its a delicate balancing act for sure, but the players who have proven there worth deserve to be paid accordingly. Ultimately if you want to become a big club then you need to start acting like one. But you are right there is absolutely that risk that bigger clubs can always come fishing but we would be absolute morons to blow this chance of a lifetime now by being tight.

Europa league is a good shout for you guys, but believe me I will never underestimate Leicester again. I'm not ruling you out of the title until its mathematically impossible :D

Will Mahrez leave? You will hate me for saying this but I wish Levy would move heaven and earth to try and sign this boy. I know you will all say "he is too big for us" but this is what I mean by showing ambition as a club.

The usual top 5/6 will all spend big, very difficult to win the title. Makes it exciting for the neutral.

I would be fuming if Mahrez left for another prem club. Would sooner see him go PSG or somewhere like that. Would Mahrez fit in your style of football? possibly. On his day he is an absolute magician. Last season he was right up there as the very best. I can see him leave this summer but he is under contract so we can get a good price for him.

Janssen may come good for you, Vardy was very hit and miss to begin with for us so Janssen may flourish next season.

You could always sign Ulloa from us, improvement on Kane that's for sure lol

Unlike someFans , I like all clubs, some I like less.

Having a Good Banter, before, during then enduring the aftermath Rant on monday morning, why its what football is all about. Then the historics and memories platform, when expats like myself, meet my own club fans, or any othergroups or cliques, sometimes in the middle of nowwhere  great for the Craiqui..Laughs and beers that flow, then it could be in hotel bar, being split in 2 minds, whether to stay and talk, or after 5 minutes do your family duties when the wife and kids are pulling you out the bar, to take them to where you promised them alot earlier...

Spurs on their Budget, with their chance from heaven, couldnt tip the scales Against Leicester.

But , Spurs were good, played great football, unfortuantely that Mongrel, wouldnt go to the Back and behave itself..The fox beat the Chasing  pack of bloodhounds, and then had the audacity to nip back and shat in all the Experts/pundits back garden, having the whole world behind them, that the media were scared of writing something audaciously negative.

THIS season, again budget...You had a great season, the squad the club did mature..!!

You play good , sparkling football. But Chelsea with their cream fringe players, and the Porsche

Slipstream of players, everygame day, were that tick a class result, 2-3 steps better.

What made these 2 seasons a failure...where your own london bias snidey jounalists..!!

And that other fans, tend to read that Dungheap  of a forum the fighting cock. Your other forums,

are, far better and pleasure   to read.  Every team/club/ forums, have the odd, neanderthal ungracious bigots, who post...but FCForum , actually puts outsiders off and sympathy is lost.

I hope next season, we can have more close, ding dongs and the games will see us clashing again for one of those top spots. I do n t enjoy seeing any teams collapse,or witchhunting down

any team, spoils the reasoning of wanting to prove your own standards...

Leicester won the PL, and the hearts of the world, I woould love to see us build on it and create a long golden period come era,Then see Spurs/Soton/Ncastle/Wham as our biggest love/hate

Competitors...

Just a side note, Spurs have had 2 good seasons behind them, enjoy and grab hold of it,

Dont lose your Excitement of journey...because Of Unwarranted , bent spitefull Crewd wit..

It's historic....for me anyway. I had no problem with Spurs, even after the 1982 FA Cup Semi final at Villa park,.

But what changed my attitude was the League Cup final in 1999.  I'll assume you're a Spurs fan, so he's a bit of Leicester City history. (a personal opinion, based on personal experience)

In the 1990's Wembley was Leicester's second home.  A regular trip to Wembley every year was expected. Despite the fact we had some disappointing results in some cases, the day out with family and friends was always a day to look forward to and enjoy. Wembley fever took hold of our City and we loved it .

In all cases the opposing fans would join in the carnival atmosphere on the day in and around Wembley...all except Spurs, who seemed to completely hostile towards us the day we met in 1999.. Pubs where Spurs fans congregated were no go areas for Leicester fans (unlike in previous years when we could mix openly in the Harlow pubs with Boro, Palace, even Derby fans before the match and enjoy the craic!). At the time (and probable even now) I never understood why.

Our Wembley run....

25 May 1992: City 0-1 Blackburn, First Division play-off final

31 May 1993: City 3-4 Swindon, First Division play-off final

30 May 1994: City 2-1 Derby, First Division  play-off final

27 May 1996: City 2-1 Crystal Palace (a.e.t), First Division play-off final

6 April 1997: City 1-1 Middlesbrough (a.e.t), League Cup final

21 March 1999: City 0-1 Tottenham, League Cup final

27 February 2000: City 2-1 Tranmere, League Cup final

My usual plan (as in previous years) was to meet up with mates at one of the two large pubs in Harlow's high St. (The Fat Controller, and The Moon on the Hill). When we walked into one of these which were taken over by Spurs, we were told to F*** off elsewhere.

The already mentioned (and well documented incident) of Spurs fans fighting in the Leicester end at Wembley around young families, and a mother being punched trying to protect her young son, kind of summed up the day. Horrid!

As mentioned in LCFC.COM

The match itself was a bitter, bad-tempered, ugly brawl of a game. It was made worse by the fact that there were some Spurs fans in the Leicester City end. Their presence turned the atmosphere into something quite ugly. The final was described in the press as a ‘mean spirited abomination of a game’.

As I walked out of Wembley I was almost knocked to the ground by a stampede of Spurs fans(?) coming from the Pubs trying to gatecrash Wembley to see their team lift the trophy.

I can't recall a worse away day out as a Leicester fan.... and I have Spurs to thank for that.

Normal Wembley order was restored the following year when we had a great day out with Tramere fans.

Not really or do you think one of the cvnts trying to stab me is ok. Or punching women at Wembley is funny.

As I have said many times football started befor the prem and way befor we won the prem.

How stupid of me to forget that all of this Tottenham talk has to do with the creation of the Prem and a Spurs fan trying to stab you!!

Meanwhile, we're all glad for Chelsea because they took a brief pause from being a**holes and wished us well last year.

This is just sad.

I cant speak for all but

Spurs fans on the Cock site have taken to describing any team that beats them as "anti-football"it seems to be a commonly held view( and even some mates who follow your club believe that Chelsea for god's sake are unworthy winners)  - I guarantee you could ask nine out of ten trotting that out what exactly it means and no-one could tell you - they appear to harbour a  deluded sense of being guardians of the purity and sanctity of the game (to be fair that is something that the more pompous and sanctimonious  West Ham fans have infected them with). Last years endless reference to possession stats  to support their view that they would have been more worthy winners was more than enough - its always something with them.

The other possibly more compelling  factor of course has to be that sly dickhead Alli and his loathsome handshakes

For me the very childish ''we're coming for you'' the stupid immature hand games when the likes of Kane or Alli score, the very silly wave of  Alli, Its a professional mans game not an u14 league, Grow up

the way your fans were towards us last season!

the whole Harry Kane" where coming for you" tweet with lions stalking there prey made it seem like you were easily going to overtake us - but you collapsed

your fans think you play the most attractive football in the Premier League like that matters because you don't win the big trophies!

Posted

It all makes it fun I guess, having an extra spice to the game. I still find it odd that you guys hold such a grudge bearing in mind you actually came out on top. Would have been a lot worse had we actually overtaken you, but we never really got close. The whole coming for you thing was a little cringey and I didn't sing any of that, but its part of the banter and psychology that comes with a title push. Remember this was pretty much the first time we had got close to a title since the 60s.

Some of the reasons given above seem a little weak if im being honest (the handshake thing), but hey football is pretty irrational at the best of times. Anyway good luck, and lets see what happens in our "friendly" on Thursday. Be interested if either side is bothered in fielding their strongest sides at all.

Posted

To  be honest I enjoyed the "we're coming for you" chants and the Kane Lions posts and Vardy's reply, it was all good natured, and I enjoy a bit of good natured banter such as who came third in a 2 horse race etc.

Some on both sides take it too far, but with the lack of any real local rivals, Spurs will do as a figure of fun, as Watford did after Deeney day, where they went to fluff their lines in the play offs, and even caused their own team to miss out on winning the league. Making a few digs like...

Starting a thread because you wrote a poem about how Spurs failed to win the league (that no one was expecting them to and they were at no point leading) is quite sad.

Good luck to spurs next season, would rather a team full of young English talent win the league.

Don't get me wrong... I don't mind it at all. Like you I'm all for a bit of fun, like I can appreciate Vardy's post after Kane's initial one. Or for instance when we were playing in our 125th year anniversary game v Villa at home and were 4-1 down and the Villa fans sang happy birthday to us. (Fortunately we came back to draw 4-4!)

It's mildly amusing that we are getting so much abuse from Leicester who up til now hadn't really achieved anything. But as you say until we can say we are champions there is not much we can say. But if we ever do... I will be back, and not so humble next time! haha

I think it's the arrogance of some of your supporters last Season and the fact that your fans hit women(Wembley '99) it's not all of a sudden I know quite a few people who dislike Tottenham.

I understand the Tottenham interest but we need to leave it next season, far too many threads and conversations about them. They are just another club in the grand scheme of things.

Posted

Off the pitch incidents at Villa Park 82 and Wembley 99 leave a sour taste to this day but on the pitch we've usually had some great games and although we didn't often win, we weren't often outplayed. Last season however it was almost assumed by most that little Leicester would fall away and while we left everyone else eating humble pie many connected with Spurs including fans, radio presenters and pundits alike just began the abuse and anti-football statements. The sense of injustice they all felt and the arrogance that the title should have been theirs leads to me taking great pleasure in Spurs not spending a single night top of the league in the last two seasons in particular. It'll probably all be forgotten next year but this year I'm loving it.

Didn't really like Spurs last year but mainly because we were in direct competition. Am pretty ambivalent about them now.

TBH the team I hated most after our away game last season was Arsenal - what a cheating, scummy team and fans that club has! Would never have even thought about Arsenal before but now I absolutely loathe them. So with Spurs fans I guess I have something in common!
