dynamark Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 No question .Chilwell has a way to go and has no right foot but will probably be a decent prem player. Fuchs looked pretty quiclk last night
Dan Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs but Chilwell occasionally - maybe in either a different formation or against weaker opposition. Chilwell is weak defensively but at the same time that won't improve with not playing. I'd give Fuchs about 25 starts and Chilwell the rest.
Ric Flair Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs v's Chilwell is like Mahrez v's Gray, it's almost not open for debate right now. Both the young pretenders are horrific with their end product and suspect defensively bit seem very promising on the ball. Until they work on their end product and positioning they're not taking over the mantel.
Poznan34 Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Fuchs. But we should give more playing time to Chilwell this season as Fuchs is getting on a bit.
Aus Fox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Chilwell will only improve with game time. Great problem to have, away at Arsenal I'd go with the experience of Fuchs, but Chilwell needs to get 20+ games into him this season to keep developing.
filthyfox Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 Fuchs for at leat the first 5 games this season.... and then see of he has aged ala Morgan
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 I'd say Fuchs for now still and would tend to agree with the majority that he's more solid defensively.. however this surprised me from Whoscored.com: Christian Fuchs: Was dribbled past more times (52) than any other defender in Europe's top 5 leagues last season
Babylon Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 Fuchs is first choice, but I would like to see Chillwell get much more game time, we need to aim to bring him through so that he's in a position to be the full time starter next season. That probably relys on us getting midtable and comfortable quite early on. Shame our start is so difficult as that could take a while.
lgfualol Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 I'd like Chilwell to get a run probably after our tough games. Fuchs isn't getting younger and will probably leave at the end of the season. But I doubt Shakey will play Chilwell much unless it's on the wing/lwb. I wish we had such competition at RB.
FireFox Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 I'd say Fuchs for now still and would tend to agree with the majority that he's more solid defensively.. however this surprised me from Whoscored.com: Christian Fuchs: Was dribbled past more times (52) than any other defender in Europe's top 5 leagues last seasonPretty sure that stat is misleading. The ratio of amount of times he was dribbled past vs the amount of times a player failed in dribbling past him is pretty average compared to other fullbacks.
M0901 Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 A 3-5-2 system would be tailor made for Chilwell as a wing back. Fuchs is far the superior defender all day. In the current system it's Fuchs definitely.
pSinatra Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 If Chilwell plays, we lose one of our main offensive strategies.........the long throw. I would play Fuchs ahead of Chilwell (for now) but it would be nice to see an alternative to launching the ball aimlessly into the box whenever we get a throw-in in the opposition half
Guest MattP Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 Anyone who would seriously drop Fuchs from our team is mental. Chilwell isn't near his level yet.
foxy boxing Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 Chilwell still has a lot to learn still and he will and be one of England's best left backs and he clearly likes to go forward but must remember his defensive duties. If he goes forward he must get back as quickly as he can. Fuchs has the experience and will be good for a few more seasons
Jimmy Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 People always slate Chilwell defensively but Fuchs makes all the same mistakes but people ignore it, also lost count of the times he brought someone down when already booked when he didn't have to make a tackle. Also people are overlooking just how poor he was last season, he should have been dropped then. I think their defensive ability is closer than people want to admit and there comes a time where you have to CHOOSE to play the young player, I'd do that now, while Fuchs is around to cover and mentor him, when he's not in America working on his fashion range that is
Guest Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 There is room for both on the pitch at the same time, chillwell in midfield
