LinekersApples Posted 10 August 2017 Posted 10 August 2017 It "Shaw" sounds like a lot would be "Cross" at this signing. Lyk if u cry evrytym

You assume do you not, that when I say 'past it' I'm referring to age? I wasnt; Im on about his form - he's on the downgrade. Or do we have to buy Stoke defenders regardless as Huth has done so well?
Gerard Posted 10 August 2017 Posted 10 August 2017 Stoke fans have been saying he's not the same player he was before the injury. We already have Maguire who is supposed first choice now and Huth and Morgan. Either get someone who is better than Huth or Morgan to slot straight in with Maguire or don't bother.

Interestingly much like our own big Wes Shawcross played the best football of his entire career (when he got his England Cap) when partnered alongside a certain square jawed German who just so happens to be still at City.

Didn't they say that Huth was still good but Hughes wanted a ball playing centre half alongside Shawcross?

Either buy a significant upgrade on Huth and Morgan or don't bother IMO. Shawcross with his injuries isn't a significant upgrade.

Shawcross has never been near the quality Huth has been over the years. Shawcross even in his prime was barely PL class, he's the pits.
Thracian Posted 10 August 2017 Posted 10 August 2017 Way past his best but fits the "hardcase" image we seem to be fostering. Would contribute to a reformed kamikaze attack at set pieces so beloved of MON.

Kinowe Soorie Posted 10 August 2017 Posted 10 August 2017 Last five seasons appearances 40, 43, 37, 23, 38 ( according to Wikipedia ) so doesn't seem that injury prone to me?
Foxes1 Posted 10 August 2017 Posted 10 August 2017 No thanks, so we have gone from being linked for Ben Gibson to Ryan Shawcross.

'Big Wes Shawcross'? Who does he play for? ?
foxfanazer Posted 10 August 2017 Posted 10 August 2017 I've liked this lad for a long time now. No nonsense. It's a yes from me
foxfanazer Posted 10 August 2017 Posted 10 August 2017 I've had a bet in my head that @Col city fan will be pleased with this. Don't let me down Col
Scotch Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 I can see the sense in people saying that we should only bother with a significant upgrade on Huth and Wes but having said that, I'd much rather Shawcross over Benny in our team and Benny saw a decent amount of firest team action so...
norwichfox Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 He wouldn't be my ideal signing, I prefer the bettepossible more long term option of Gibson.
FoxonMaui Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Doubt if he would want to come here without some kind of starting guarantee and I would not want to see us giving him one.
dedlock Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 It is clear we are looking to add another CB before the window closes. City's name has been lumped in with several other clubs in a similar position. In the Gibson thread it was suggested we may be looking at CB options from Italy. At the beginning of the summer Wesley Hoedt was suggested as a possible target. He might fit the young ,promising squad profile rather than the likes of Shawcross or Smalling who will expect to start.
The People's Hero Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Has this guy got an England Cap? Or been in squads and not got a cap? Just important in terms of something I've heard.
