We have only named 24 players in the 25 man squad so we can sign a free agent before January if needed.

Just a thought ... If the Silva deal doesn't get rubberstamped by FIFA, can we use the £22 mill (or whatever) to pay Porto to terminate Silva's contract, and then sign him as a free agent instead?

Apparently he is a "taste making left winger" whatever one of them is

And people on here were worried if Mahrez left we didn't have a replacement lined up.

Anyone know why Josh Gordon isn't listed as a home grown player?

"An HGP means a player who, irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)."

Probably not been with a professional club long enough. I know he we on Stoke's books but maybe not down his 3 years yet. Seems a stupid rule that players coming up through non-league somehow get penalised. Surely clubs should be incentivised to find non-league talent and be rewarded with HGP status?

It's a very good squad ... probably the best the club has ever had ... but there are potential issues on the horizon.

If Simpson gets a serious injury then we only have makeshift cover unless Shakey then opts for just a back three .

We are assuming Silva and Iborra can adapt to the speed of the premier league ... we don't potentially want two Inlers on the books.

The Mahrez/ Gray situation is a tricky one .... could see both of them gone by this time next season.

( Mahrez staying , albeit temporarily, was the worst possible news for Gray ).

The club are going to face a big bid for Maguire sooner rather than later .. lets hope they can repel it.

Anyway let's hope the club can kick on now and climb the table.

A repeat of 2015/16 .. maybe not ... but still think if everything clicks we could get top four

and no players will then be wanting to leave

I agree with the basic sentiment but inler never really had a chance to get up to speed with the PL because it became clear kante was so good and there was no chance of a run in the team for him.  Add to that he was a few years older than these two and I am not so concerned. Wilf can learn a fair bit from them too.
