Had I been proven wrong, I still wouldn't have admitted I was wrong.
suffolk fox Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Why change the shape today at half time when we created more chances than them in the first half and it was an even contest and a very close game? It was totally baffling? We lost our way second half by ridiculous unnecessary substitutions again. We then start to play it long and the long throw ins resume again when we haven't a target man to aim for in the box other than Vardy, Gray and King of all people? Can someone also explain to me what Mahrez has to do to be dropped? He was bloody awful today. If on the break away he had passed it to Vardy we may have scored, instead he opted for Slimani. To think people didn't want Silva at Watford as manager. I suppose we will be making the same excuses for Shakespeare next week too when we lose at Huddersfield.

I would suggest fhat is not a better record. Shakespeare needs to take responsibility for his team selections, formations, and substitutions. All of which are questionable at best. Yes we lost to three teams in the top 6! I'm sure we are not the only ones who did that last season and won't be this season. But can you seriously not see how much better we have been in all 3 games this season? Newsflash the top 6 teams have better players, in almost every position!

There is nothing ironic in my opinion that James is not good enough to play in the Premier League (which I suspect is what you are really getting at), and there is nothing ironic in my opinion that 4-4-2 will not work against better teams.
jim5000 Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Mahrez and Vardy on the break against 1 defender, that was our gameplan and we got the opening only for Mahrez to take the wrong option, delay, and pass it to Slim instead of Vardy...

We've played Arsenal, Man Utd (away) and Chelsea. Get in the real world. Yet Burnley managed to beat Chelsea in their own back yard, and Stoke have managed to beat Arsenal and draw with Man Utd.

But it's ok that we were 8 minutes away from beating Arsenal and cocked it up. Stoke and Burnley get points. We get plaudits. Points keep you up. Plaudits don't. Good point smudger.

I'm not anti him I hope he stays as assistant (he won't ) he just isn't a premier league manager 11 points out of the last 33/36 pts available is pathetic wake up is all I'm saying he isn't good enough and we need a top class manager
Chico1958 Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 Let's put the cat amongst the pigeons It's all Ranieri's fault..................... Or we could get realistic, let's see where we are after Huddersfield, Liverpool and Bournemouth. Because if we're still on three points, Shakespeares luck might just have run out by then. The International Break could be his Big Moment Ps: I'm with most on the site though, It's been a tough start for us
David Hankey Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 I think Shakey's clutching at straws. You make you're own luck in this game and have to take your chances when they come whoever the opposition is.
Livid Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 I don't know. The Arsenal result I'm laying at his feet. Man Utd we were playing for a point , it was inevitable. Yesterday we were just average. At best we're going to achieve mid table mediocrity. Are you or will the owner's be happy with that ?

Plenty on here weren't happy when we won the league and expected us to finish higher
Fox92 Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 I don't get what he means. "Big moments didn't go our way".... referring to Slimani chance.... sorry but a better finisher scores that chance. It's nothing to do with not going our way. We didn't really threaten. Same as United game, they didn't get out of second gear.

If we are playing well, making chances and looking a fluid, dangerous side, we'll score goals and win games. Luck will be on our side. All games can be determined by a few key moments. The point is we definitely deserved to get beat by Chelsea and Man Utd and possibly Arsenal as well. That's not necessarily a criticism but it's not like our defeats haven't been a fair reflection of those matches.
weller54 Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 I like Shakey.. He comes over as a nice guy... He's been a fantastic coach and No 2 for us... However, there's a big 'But' coming...... He won't be our Manager for very long. He's too naive, too 'nice', too friendly with the players. He's playing everything far too safely, not rattling any cages, not taking us forward... We can't keep relying on the old guard, playing the' hoof it to Vardy ball ' all the time... It's predicable and boring now, the opposition know exactly what to expect from us, there's no suprise element to our game. Sorry Shakey, you're a brilliant Assistant Manager but we need someone now with a much bigger vision for our future and that person needs to be in place sooner rather than later!
Farrington fox Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 Lets be honest, this has been a difficult start to the season, 3 tough games, injuries to key players, the Silva fiasco etc. I'm not panicking yet. But, a failure to bring back a point or 3 from Huddersfield and serious questions will need to be asked of Shakey.

Still unable to keep the ball, lack of cutting edge other than in the Arsenal game! Stoke have taken points from both Arsenal and Man U.
Stan Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 Can we wait until the new signings have played more than a few minutes before we write Shakespeare, and the season, off?
