James McClean's explanation for not wearing a poppy is completely reasonable and I wish that people wouldn't make such a big deal of it every rememberance weekend.

Same with Marc Guehi writing a message on the rainbow (C) band

Don't get me wrong, James McClean doesn't do himself any favours posting pictures of himself talking to his kids whilst wearing a balaclava, but his reason for not wearing a poppy is a justified one.

The reasons are fine and completely reasonable. The way he carries himself is not. As an Irish guy living in England, there's nothing more cringe than a fellow Irish guy living in England but claiming to be the big Rebel.

Agreed. I think it comes off quite well and respects both his religious beliefs and LGBQT+ by wearing the rainbow armband.

Yeah, I did just somewhat illude to this.

We should move Christmas Day celebrations to January 6 (like some European countries). That way another two weeks of dark winter will be over and we'd be closer to brighter Spring days after Christmas.

My girlfriend being Orthodox and me Anglican it's quite nice I get to celebrate religious festivals twice. Apart from Christmas as she's from one of the very few Orthodox countries that celebrates it on the 25th.

I thought the whole point of having Christmas on the 25th was to cheer ye folk up when winter was at its darkest?

Besides when all the fuss is over, the days are noticeably drawing out.

This morning after painting the bowl in the London office I heard a yank refer to annual leave / holiday as "a disconnect"

Sorry but that's it for me, ban Americans

I imagine banning Americans would be a stretch goal.

Daytrippers add more to our atmosphere than most of our STHs

Particularly noticeable at Cup games, when people can actually get tickets at a decent price.

The “Daytrippers” are usually younger/more working class fans that get priced out/ can’t get seats together at regular games

I know several ST holders who have it purely as they wouldn't be able to get it back should they pass for one year. Not a surprise areas are dead when people are there just because they've paid for it.

Also not a surprise those who less often are much more excited to go. Makes the lack of general sale at times even more farcical.

There should be harsher penalties for companies that cock up bills.

O2 have charged me for two months for a phone I don't have and hold three emails confirming they have had it back - along with a confirmation number.

This ineptitude should be punished.

I want it mandatory that companies that do this should have to send you a gift basket containing at least two bottles of Louis Roederer Cristal, a chateaubriand, a cheque for £1,000, and a photograph of the employee responsible being given their notice of dismissal in front of their crying family.

I'd say >66% of games have gone to general sale this season, Wolves currently on general.

Edit - home games that is, all away games have sold out so far]

Edit edit - sorry Wolves isn't, I'll alter my percentage to about 53%

Doesn't help when ST prices are still relatively cheap - picking up a season ticket for £450 in the Premier League is still good value, if they were £800 people would think twice about 'keeping them incase you can't get it back''

I'm sure there's only been 3 games go to gen sale so far, happy to be corrected though but either way, no matter the game, if there's still tickets available the last week before a game, they should go to general sale.

@Parafox, do you agree with this hospital trust's proposal to outsource some non-patient care roles?..

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn7rvz54p7do

Fundamentally, I find it difficult to disagree. They're not outsourcing any patient facing, clinical roles, it's mainly support and ancillary jobs. I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

AFAIK it's Serco that has contracts for cleaning and other support services and if the NHS trust finds a contractor that can provide the services at a lower cost, then that's how the free market works.

Unfortunately, a change of supplier will entail a change of T's & C's for those employed by the current service provider. I don't believe the Trust has any say in what the terms of employment are under any non NHS provider.

So, basically, I can understand the upset and dismay and anger at this, but the people employed by the outside contractor should not expect a "job for life". Such has the NHS changed over the years.

Several non clinical roles have been outsourced in the same way some non policing roles have, such as forensic investigations,
