I actually think Morgan and Maguire have performed reasonable well. Midfield and formation are the source of our issues at the moment.

Be good to have him back available of course, but I would keep Maguire and Morgan there for now. Dragovic and Maguire would be my long-term pairing anyway.

Completely agree but think a back 3 of Huth, Maguire and Morgan is the way forward.

The point about dragovic depends on how he adapts to the premier league

Back 3 is the way to go no doubt

Huth would be my 4th choice CB now. Still has a role to play but we need to be evolving. A back three of Huth, Wes and Mag would be far too slow imo.

Scary thing is Morgan is maybe the quickest if the 3

I know lol. Imo for a back three we'd need another player capable of playing the ball, as the back three would at times start the attacks. Hopefully Drag will be capable as like many others I actually think our squad is built for 3-4-3/3-5-2.

How an earth do people think Huth and Morgan can play in a back 3 is beyond me.. they have absolutely none of the attributes needed for that formation.

I like huth, but is dragavic just another signing that the club has made, not to replace/ improve an area of the side, but to sit out in case we get injuries.

Players we bring in should be better than what we have, or at the very least push the starting 11, but that doesn't seem the case here, the starting 11 appears to be the staring 11 come what may.

Like I say, I like huth, but he is at the back end of his career, great player for the squad, and I guess to have around, but regular first team, shouldn't be now.

They did it really well during the great escape.

Wayne Rooney is also England greatest ever goal scorer lets start him in the next world cup up top.

Not only did we play them in a back 3 to great success at the end of the 2014/15 season, but the 3rd CB was Wasyl lol

They've certainly lost a yard of pace since then that they didn't really have much of anyway, but I think either could do  job alongside Maguire and Dragovic.

As I recall in our great escape season the back three consisted of Morgan, Huth and Wasyl. With Wasyl on the right of the three, Huth in the middle and Morgan on the left.

Having three at the back would allow for Maguire to roam a little more and find a good pass.

I know he's not popular but I think Amartey would suit this formation as the right sided centre back, he has pace, but more importantly he is used to playing both CB (for Ghana) and right back so should be comfortable when dragged out wide or when in the centre.

Back 3 would almost certainly bring out the best in Maguire. He could bring the ball out of defence as he does and have Huth and Morgan covering. Sounds like something that could really work well.  Although until we have sorted out the CM partner for Ndidi in a 2 looks like 3 in the Middle is probably more pressing atm

Can't believe some on here. Huth is solid for us, I'd have him as 1st choice personally. He may not be the quickest but he makes little mistakes and he's very clever.

It's no coincidence the great escape started just after we signed Huth. I'd even consider making him captain and play him and Maggy

I don't think we should underestimate the influence that Huth has both in defence and set pieces. He is slowing down and I'm surprised that he hasn't recovered considering we saw him play in the U23's a month ago. Maybe his age has caught up with him, but if not he still has so much to offer us.

He's better than Morgan, should take his place when fit.

Shakespeare will never have the balls to drop Morgan. More likely to drop the new guy to avoid losing mates, bit like Jakupovic.

We should be doing 3 at the back anyway.

Not really sure as to whether they are still good enough to play these days says anything about whether they have "none of the attributes to play there" does which they've clearly demonstrated they have. It's not like you necessarily need more pace to play in a back 3 or anything, the main issue is the positioning in relation to having no full-backs and I don't think either has deteriorated in that respect from 2 1/2 years ago,

I thought Morgan was past it in the summer, but he's had a good start to the season and been one of our better players thus far for me and hopefully he can have a good "Indian Summer" of a season late in his career. Never questioned Huth though, think he still easily has what it takes.

I actually think having a back 3 could suit Magurie a lot more too as he'd have an extra covering defender when he goes forward.
