MrsJohnMurphy Posted 16 October 2017 Posted 16 October 2017 To be fair, it is surely up to the manager to inform the recruitment team the type of player he wants. So Ranieri really didn't have a clue then?
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 16 October 2017 Posted 16 October 2017 Higher press and a central midfielder willing to regularly go past the half way line may actually give us the option of passing the ball forwards...

somebum Posted 16 October 2017 Posted 16 October 2017 Amazing to see the recruitment side of things becoming a handy smoke screen for Shakes. Something tells me that with Silva Iborra Ndidi all firing on all cylinders Shakes would still put Andy King in a 442. This excuse of poor recruitment carries limited weight only. Once on the pitch recruitment cannot be blamed for disjointed displays devoid of gameplan or motivation, nor can it be the teason behind his pathetic subs

Change the system from one that is not working with ANY two in CM to something else. ? I know; since the ones we have are not the best, let’s help them out by having three in there instead of two. Why the **** he didn’t do that already against the ‘bigger’ teams this season I can not comprehend. That said EVERY team bar one that we have played in the PL has pissed all over our midfield, so it should be a three all along until we get Silva involved. CS has had the opportunity to do or at least try many things so far this season but has done nothing about it. Thus rendering us where we are in the relegation zone where I know we are very lucky to be on 5pts and not 3. He needs to rectify this behaviour tonight.
m4DD0gg Posted 16 October 2017 Posted 16 October 2017 For the first time in years i really dont want to go tonight

I'm watching it on the telebox with a couple of beers. He is out of his depth unfortunately but you’re a fool if you think the main problem lies with Shakespeare. Club needs a big overhaul of staff that have become too comfortable in their jobs That’s garbage; the bit about the players not being good enough. This lot in the main have won a league title, and were CL quater finalists a matter of months ago. Yes Drinkwater has gone, but bar two months at the beginning of last season he was ****ing awful anyway. So, Shakey needs to MANAGE this squad. If the midfield 2 we have are not good enough, he needs to make it a three. He needs to inspire players and be tactically better than he has shown so far. I agree the club looks like it is turning to shit though and changes should be made starting with the axing of Rudkin. If Shakes can’t do better then he needs to go also to enable some progress to be made.

I don't care if he wanted to go - the club should have made every effort to keep a player who was under contract. On paper, Silva may be an adequate replacement but seems like a totally different player to me. A great addition but not a replacement. It could take Silva 6 months to adjust and adapt to the pace and physicality of the Prem. He'll probably struggle to get game time ahead of Andy King if Shakespeare is still around. Seems to be the case with Iborra who again will need 6 months to truly adjust. We had the finished product with Drinky so a big shame to let go of him in my view. He's been shit for almost a year and he's injured anyway, so not really a big deal. I expect Silva to hit the ground running.
blueharmie Posted 16 October 2017 Posted 16 October 2017 Don't control the midfield you will never win a match. King not good enough. That's the problem.
the messenger Posted 16 October 2017 Posted 16 October 2017 We are trying to play to Vardy, the same way when we won the premier the only thing is we have’nt Got Kante and Drinky. Ndidi James king and amartey are no where near as good. Mahrez plays well for a total of 5 mins in game and teams have sussed him out. Injuries to promising signings have’nt helped ( Kelechi and Iborra) The Silva debacle. Shakey’s insistence on playing 442 when you can quite clearly see the midfield is over run there is no protection for the back 4. Tactically inept. Past transfer windows being garbage. Ongoing Failure to integrate new signings. Need I go on ? Even if we manage a positive result tonight it is only papering over the cracks. Solution? Anyone.

How has that ploy worked with Mahrez? Hes been an absolute bastard and should have ****ed off after we won the league. Keeping players who don’t want to be here is bad for squad morale and therefore a for a recipe for disaster.
Merging Cultures Posted 16 October 2017 Posted 16 October 2017 Right now, at this very point in time, hyper-pathetically, if we were to sign Phil Coutinho, he would start either on the left or right wing in a 4-4-2 formation. I hope that analogy is clear enough to highlight my frustration, possibly not, sorry. Hyper-dermically Coutinho would inject more skill into the team.

Merging Cultures Posted 16 October 2017 Posted 16 October 2017 I’m bored of repeating myself. Already said I think he should go. We’ll get someone else in but the underlying issues will still be thereExcept with the managers I mentioned (even Wenger) they would sort everything out top to bottom. NP had a hand in everything. Some think there are blue tinted spectacles when it comes to NP. There aren't. He is the type of manager who is involved in all aspects of a club, and if some cvnt wants to use a drone to spy on training and not tell him, he'll make his thoughts more than known.I want that guy. Not some idiot who will consult the players before changing formation. FFS. What's that?!I supported CS at the beginning because I thought we were getting some continuity and a sequel to NP. He seems like a washed up CR.

Wymsey Posted 16 October 2017 Posted 16 October 2017 I feel in this league, in particular, you have to take risks in order to try and change the momentum to the benefit of the team and ultimately try and win the game well. The 4-4-2 situation makes it appear as if Shakespeare is reluctant to adopt such an approach (that served the 2015/2016 team greatly) and prefers 'stable' performances. He has to change it somewhat, as some of the other key players (barring Vardy) aren't at their best.

That aside these players when motivated (probably by themselves) were 1 goal off 8th place having been virtual non triers for half the season. Weve since signed Ian Nacho, Maguire and Iborra; all three should improve the starting 11 if the team is managed correctly. There is no way they should be rooted in the relegation zone and seemingly devoid of both ideas and confidence. Sack Rudkin for two years of incompetence by all means. No excuse for Shakey for what’s been dished up so far. We do have good players.
