We all know where the problem is

Midfield. Under-sold Kante, off-loaded Drinkwater, balls-up Siva transfer and not replaced with the same stature.

Armartey, Ndidi and Matty James are not the same calibre so why can't the manager and owners see it?

Blame the players, they’re the ones on the pitch, they’re the ones who take the accolades for success and they’re the ones who take the big wages, the manager can only do so much, they are supposed to be experienced professional football stars. Well prove it.

No, the problem isn't with the midfield, it isn't with the team and it isn't with the management (Although the midfield and team isn't good enough and the manager does make some weird decisions and doesn't help himself) but the problem is with the recruitment and negotiation team - It all stems from the mismanagement in that area and until it is improved the team won't improve and whatever manager we have they've got their hands tied.

I don't think some of these players are good enough and I don't think the manager is the right man for the job but unless heads roll with in the recruitment and neogtiation team that fail window after window, I don't see how the sacking of the manager can be justified.

I sound like a broken record, I make these points almost daily at the moment, I'm boring myself but until something happens i'll keep making these points.

Our signings this summer look good on paper, but they are not playing for a variety of reasons.

There is enough quality in the squad to be comfortably mid table or better, but the manager can't seem to find a way of getting it to fit together.

Your can't blame the manager

Yes you can.

He's the one that picks the same team, has the team playing boring sideways football and won't change anything. He is too negative.

I ain't gonna say I told you so...

Some people are suggesting that Amartey needs to step up to be our saviour of the midfield.

Which tells you just about all you need to know about how some of the forum members see football..

The problem lies within the way in which the players are set up on the field.

We could have Silva eligible to play and imo it wouldn't make any difference if we did.

We'd go 442 with Silva and Iborra/Ndidi.  Everyone knows it.  And there lies your problem.

Teams have long ago sussed us out and we haven't reacted to this.  Yet.

We may never do.

We've been more positive than Burnley have been against the big teams. I don't think it comes down to negativity at all, we just aren't set up very well.

Our shape is wide open, we try and stretch play by keeping two up front and two men wide. But everyone is so far apart you need a perfect 34 yard pass to reach the nearest option and in defence it leaves holes the other team can pass through.

If anything we need to be tighter and closer together to provide options and give the easy pass, whilst restricting the space.

If by more positive you mean set up to be battered for large parts of the game, then yes weve been more positive.

He can **** off. Easy

Nice and respectful to a man who has been a big part of our most successful era!

i think he should go but in the context of this thread I’m not sure how he can be blamed

What can the manager do about it?

he can try this crazy idea of not playing a 2 man midfield in a 442 when he is short on players , especially short on a box to box midfielder.

That’s not what the OP stated. He was criticising the personnel

About the same respect you had for Ranieri no doubt. Who did the most.

I was always respectful of Claudio so don’t know what point you’re trying to make

the personal and player management are part of the problem, just because you are short on players doesn't that you can stand still. he is a manager, he should manage.
