Could Amartey be a good right hand side centreback of a 3? He is currently stuck between a centre back and a right back so could be an ideal position for him.

You would think he would be the natural choice for that role but he can't be trusted and there's no way Shakespeare is going to risk him there as he could of done last night.

Im not over keen on Albrighton playing there either still got memories of his performance against Chelsea last season where he looked all at sea in the rwb role.

I would love us to play this system, players like Mahrez would flourish but yet again It all comes down to recruitment  I'm afraid , we just don't have the right players

We've easily got the personnel to play either 3-4-3 or 3-5-2. Our 4-4-2 no longer works as everyone can see and it makes sense to make the switch now. I also think it'd help get the best out of Slimani.

If he doesn't start with this on Saturday then he should be fired for gross misconduct. It is his only hope of getting a win or two and to survive for a while. We have zero creativity in midfield and we'll still struggle against anyone half decent as the midfield is abysmal but it gives us more options. If we do play 3-4-1-2 then Slimani has to start as he's going to get on the end of some crosses which Vardy, Okazaki and Iheanacho aren't.

Schmeichel

Maguire

Morgan

Dragovic

Albrighton

Ndidi

Iborra

Chilwell

Mahrez

Vardy

Slimani

Just me who didn't think the 3 worked particularly well?

Only positive was Chilwell and you could have had that from him at left back.

They got through us more than we got through them and I thought we almost gifted it too them with poor defending.

Albrighton barely pushed and rarely tried to commit as well. Slim seemed to spend most of his time running out wide.

I thought it left us exposed, which would have been punished against better teams.

However, in fairness, we were pushing forward to try and win it, so it's not surprising we left ourselves open.

Frankly, I'm coming to the conclusion that anything which makes us a little bit creative is worth a try.

I think it's what we should go for. Wouldn't want Simpson out of the side though, doesn't deserve to be.

But we've got the personnel for 3-5-2. We could get together a really solid back three, wing backs, CAM role for Mahrez or Gray meaning the former wouldn't have the same defensive responsibility like he has at right midfield, and as well as this, keep two strikers.

I think it'd make us better going forward and a different proposition to face. We do need to change.

Hmmmm I'm not sure, we've only ever played it when we are throwing everything at teams (Atletico, Spurs and WBA) Chilwell gets so much time and space when we've played it and I'm intrigued to see how we start a game playing it. We have been horrifying from the off in the last 3-4 league games so it's as much about trying something different to see if we can get the lead in a game as we're always a different beast when we go ahead early on.

Very disrespectful in my opinion. This isn't some jobbing manager like Big Sam or Roy Hodgson who has been here a few months and would just about be fair game for that kind of abuse. Craig has been a massive part of promotions out of league one and the championship and of course wining the premier league.

By all means criticise his tactics and his substitutions but let's leave the personal abuse out and show him the respect his 7 incredible years here deserve.

Oh so the personal abuse is fine then. There is literally no excuse for it, we're all guilty of losing our cool and being arse holes now and again, but it's day in day out and disrespectful to someone who has played a part in our success.

Our defensive line was very high when we switched to the 352 to be honest. More than once I noticed we were playing basically on the half way line, which is very high for us. The draw back is that a through ball will cut us open, but the bonus is that we are pressing much, much higher.

Although I didn't see last nights match, the mood and comments on here speak very loudly as to our performance, and following what's already been dished up this season so far Shakespeare looks nailed on to take us down unfortunately.

A manager change due right now (new broom please, no past "hero's"), Shakespeare needs no longer to demonstrate that he's totally out of his depth as our  Manager.

So what? He might be shit as a manager (and I think he is) but he still is a good coach. Nothing can justify the childish personal abuse he's getting from some on here.

It wasn't like there were no good points. The issue is that we had very little penetration power. Of course it doesn't help that West Brom were basically playing a back 6  whilst also stacking their midfield, leaving Rondon on his own. We needed to be adventurous with our passing and yet we kept switching side-to-side. Changing formation and system fixed this, but because we played such a high back line that we were running the risk of leaving us wide open. Paid off though.

West Brom had no clear cut chances, and had one shot on target, coming from a freekick which we should not have conceded. We had 2 clear cut chances and possibly could have had a penalty. It's unfortunate that Mahrez could not bag the first chance too, but he did well to score his second.

Change in formation and our substitutions happened 10/15 minutes too late, though. I think if we'd changed system as soon as we conceded at 63', we probably would have won, rather than waiting until 75' to change.

It will be 442 next game and everybody knows it.

Shakespeare has huge problems dropping anyone from the title winning team.

spot on for me, it will more than likely be 442 at Swansea with Shinji coming in for Nacho

we only ever seem to change formation as a last resort

True, I don’t recall that I have abused him, and if i have I apologize, I have already previously he isn’t a bad coach he did an commedable job in keeping us up last season as an interim manager and fulfilled his remit in that regard.

But as far as a permanent manager is concerned we should have given the role to someone experienced.

Whilst I'm not keen with Albrighton playing that role I wouldn't mind it so much with Dragovic as the covering defender as he is not the slowest.

Other than that Slimani will be our aerial threat, Vardy a pest and Mahrez given more freedom, the more I think about it the better it looks.

With current squad I like 3-5-2, as it plays to their strengths - we have a strong roster of centre backs (but not central midfielders), and it gives better cover at the back if Maguire goes for a wander.

The LWB role suits Chilwell perfectly, as he demonstrated when he came on against West Brom.  When he's in form Albrighton is the obvious choice for RWB, although my eight-year-old son assures me that we should be considering Darnell Johnson for that role.  Sadly I suspect Darnell would get thoroughly clattered if he were to play against Leeds next week, which seems like the next opportunity to experiment with formation and personnel (I suspect that Swansea will be 4-4-2 again).

Only thing I'd really consider changing from your proposed line-up is to start with Okazaki rather than Mahrez to link the midfield with the front two - he tends to drop deep anyway, and there's no-one as industrious, so long as he stays on his feet.  Mahrez to come on in the second half once Shinji's run his socks off.
