Bonfire night 2017.

I'm not really interested in these things much now but I remember Beacon Hill splashed out on their displays to be seen by the whole of Loughborough. Take a torch.

If you fancy a weekend away come to Somerset for Bridgwater Carnival, 100,000 people in a town about the size of Hinckley. About 1,500 people actually taking part in the carnival.  And it's a free show. Google for it now, it's absolutely insane!

Get the Great Central Railway to Oadby - usually about a tenner from Rothley/Birstall/Loughborough and a 10/15 minute ride on the steam train, they've usually got beer tents, food stalls and fairground rides for the kids.

A lot of cricket clubs have events as they have a lot of land, Long Whatton and Sileby are around my way. May be worth checking out some local to yourself.

went to the one on the racecourse in Oadby last year and it was good.

so good in fact I'll be going again.

Interesting, that.

Last year was the first year we didn't go, because of how poor it had been the previous year - they'd halved the display time and increased prices too.

So jealous of Bonfire night :(

Do you not anything similar, Oz?

Sydney Harbour Bridge always looks good on the tv here at New Year.

Cattows Farm

I’ve  been told by somebody I work with who has been before that it’s bedlam getting in and out of that place, even more so if there’s been any rain recently.

Last year was the first time I'd been to the racecourse and any fireworks display in some time tbf. I did also take a hip flask full of whisky so maybe I was just wowed by all the colours and sounds hah.

Hollowell - North Northamptonshire is brilliant.

Costs a quid for adults - kids go free. Ridiculously massive bonfire, fireworks worthy of a night at Disney and real ale tents, loads of different food stalls, fairground and steam powered stuff if that floats your boat.

We do have some really substantial ones (Australia/Invasion day)

But we can NOT have our own little nights :( Fireworks were banned back in the 80s ..now you can apply for a licenece and buys a shitty little pinwheel and sparklers, but no bangers, rockets etc.

Is that because of the risk of bush fires?

Not really... it was introduced due to people blowing their hands, eyes, puppies and kittens up. :(

I know where there is a great one ...  massive bonfire that has been added to for ages and will burn all night ...   a boot full of fireworks including several barrages and over a dozen massive rockets ...   loads of beer and drinks and a hog roast with about 100 people there ...   sadly its at my place and none of you are invited ...   :)

Yeah I think so. It's not massive, just a couple of burger vans and some small rides for the children, but the fireworks are absolutely amazing and seem to go on forever. This will be our fourth time, and it's been cracking every year so far.
