Well, well, well! What an end to the day! England picking up an unlikely 4 wickets and all of a sudden, if England can keep this pressure on, maybe England could get a result! Still 2 days play left!

All to late though aint it, even if we got these out for under a 100, we wouldnt get close to 350 odd.

We'd have a small chance.

Momentum is a big thing in sport, Smith will already be wondering why he hasn't put us back in in these conditions.

He knows full well how fragile they are. Didn't fancy chasing 120 on night 4!

I think had we gone back in we'd probably be 50/5 now anyway lol

I don't think anyone would've blamed Smith for wanting to stick the boot into us, presumably with the intention of Warner smashing us all over the park tonight, but in hindsight it seems a tad strange not to let us face the moving ball again after that batting performance from us.

Twists like this certainly make a decent case for more day-nighters (outside of England of course)...

Is the logic of not making England follow on that they were hoping to blast a quick couple hundred then declare again?

So if they'd have put England back in and a mixture of rain and England playing defensively slowed things down then they could have risked a draw?

Yeah it's just the thing to do these days when you have lots of time left, lets the bowlers rest and rattle more runs up to pile the pressure on, his bowlers should have been chomping to get out and bowl in that, most I've ever seen a ball in Australia.

It was madness really to send his own batsmen out into that under lights and with the new ball, even with the lead they had. Very un-Australian not to be ruthless as well.

It's still a small chance for us, but it's better than no chance, we've got to get them out quick enough tomorrow though to try and get through 30 overs in the daylight, new ball at night and we'll have the same problem.

To have any chance of a draw, let alone a win. England have to bat twice under the lights with this pink ball. After seeing that shambles of a batting performance in the sunshine, I can't see it happening. Smith knew that too.

Not really. Australia don't enforce the follow-on since that infamous VVS/Dravid Kolkata 2001 test.

If anyone can now explain why Moeen is bowling I'd like to hear the reason.

Think they'v got enough now, sadly.

We've shown some balls, small chance.

Come on England.

Whatever happens from here we have got them rattled.

Cook has been pathetic so far on this tour.

Doesn't look himself, have to stick with him though.

Turning now, play a spinner and bat first and we had won this match.

This Alison Mitchell is absolutely dreadful as well, I absolutely hate tokenism. If a bloke was this bad he would be nowhere near the commentary box.

These two have got to get us quite far here, Lyon is going to sweep up the left handers

I know it's been said, but this BT commentary is really dreadful. Would mute it and switch to TMS but can't sync it up right.

Awful trying to watch modern test cricket having just woken up, there's an over ongoing and inbetween balls they're playing outs from earlier in the test and nearly outs from say an hour ago and then instantly its back to Lyons vs Root live again. You've got no idea of whats happening ffs

theres another. we're arfin shid mon

She basically went up with the Aussies for that catch which was blatantly off the hip. Have some standards FFS.

Swann calling a dead ball about 30 seconds after it was called was comical too.

Fvck's sake Vince, just leave the cvnt.

How many times does he do this?

Must be the worst number three we have ever had.

I think I would have preferred to wake up with Australia having declared and us 4 wickets down, as it is they gave us all a little hope and we are probably going to get agonisingly close, before losing.

I still can't believe Root chose to bowl first.
