Drinkwater hit the crossbar.

I'm sure maddison must be better than he looks after everything said here but he just seems to be a jog around aimlessly player in the 65 minutes I've seen him play - and if I've learned anything from FT it's that 66 minutes is more than enough to evaluate anyone.

Could end up being a club legend then

Seems a similar player to Barnes and I think Barnes would have comparable stats had he been on loan at a better side.

Thought that crossed my mind as he waltzed up to take his penalty tonight...  he’s either used far too much product on his hair or had done very little work in the game to have had a perfectly styled barnet after 120 minutes of football.

He’s definitely better than Gray, and I’d happily take him here, kids got potential.

he's nowhere near as good as gray. they're literally leagues apart. well, one league.

Gray is shit. The odd burst of pace isn’t enough. It’s about time he actually produced something meaningful on a consistent basis to match his ego. I wouldn’t miss him if he left.

Well my remarks based on 1 game of football could certainly be wrong. yours based on the games you've seen Gray play are definitely wrong. Gray is already a good player and could become great.

I don't see how people can use Gray as a counter-argument in order to slate Maddison. They play on different positions and have a different set of skills.

It's a bit like pitting Mahrez against Shaqiri, then use Diego Costa to discredit either one of them.

Seriously, the logic of some people.

Maddison is a great talent with a great future ahead of him. I can't see many English attacking midfielders better than him right now. Alli and Barkley spring to mind, but that's about it. Jack Grealish has sort of ceased to make headlines, and whatever happened to Ravel Morrison?

Although playing in a slightly different position, he does remind me of James Ward-Prowse for some reason.

Looks a decent prospect, better than Barnes but he hasn’t been given a chance to show what he can do yet, similar to Lawrence as well,  thought the left back who scored looks very good too...

Maddison played the majority of the game as a striker, his best position is attacking midfield where he can feed strikers in front of him. His pass from midfield to Klose, gave Klose enough time and space for him to whip the ball into Lewis for thier goal.

Yes. He made a pass from midfield to the wing.

Having read what some people said here I was expecting more than that. He wasn't very good from dead ball situations (which doesn't change whatever postion you want to say he's playing) which I understood were his speciality - not that he'd get to take them with Mahrez in the team. What struck me the most though was that he played in midfield and actually just jogged around looking lost. Maybe the step up in level was just too much or maybe it was an off day.

Personally he didn't look better than half a dozen midfield players that we have in the U23 squad.

However as I said it was just one game and you've seen him many more times so I understand he must be decent but a "great talent" as someone said seems a stretch.

Whilst I agree that he needs to be more consistent, I'm not sure where you've got this idea that he has a massive ego from? Can't recall him doing much to suggest he's a problem? The only I thing I can think of is that he once stated he thought he was good enough to play more regularly and would like to and that was when asked a question directly. What's he supposed to say? Nothing wrong with having confidence in your own ability- doesn't make you egotistical.

All good players have a degree of "ego" .. It's a necessary attribute to make it to the bigs. You can see it when a player is lacking confidence or self belief and their game suffers. Gray hasn't done anything to suggest that his ego is a problem.
