You just know that ‘Beautiful pubs collective’ will have ripped the soul out of the Old Horse with it’s refurb.

I walk past it everyday to work. I was initially defensive of them taking on the place but I am now very worried. Maybe it’s because I am hating on the Rutland and Derby more and more.

Add Buxton to the places that has a better pub scene than Leicester. Ridiculous.

I was out there just before Xmas seeing the wedding present at the opera house…. There are some top tier boozers

Dew Drop in Hathern might be a new entrant into the Leicestershire top 10 for me.

Takes me up to no. 284

The people of East Leicestershire will be so proud of being included in such a list for their county which, for the avoidance of doubt, is Leicestershire.

Great list. I am pretty certain I have nearly or have done all city boundary pubs. Never heard of Dew Drop as I have never been to Hathern! The building looks great.

It's on the old A6 isn't it? Many years ago it had a sign boasting a large selection of whiskies, but I don't think that's the case any more.

Sounds even better if they have still got the whiskies.

Shires at Peatling was still going strong when I last went, though I think it's since changed hands.

Depending on whereabouts you are the Grey Goose in Gilmorton or the Shires in Peatling were two of my favourites, or on the other side of the city the Badger's Sett in Cropston or the Griffin Inn in Swithland. Need someone else to confirm a more recent visit than me though!

Dew Drop is indeed proper

Try the black swan in shepshed next time. Excellent pub

Yeah, Black Swan is great. I love Shepshed's pubs.

I liked the Dew Drop few years ago before it changed hands and the landlord went back to the US.

Then I went in and it was too "date night" and less like a local pub.

Obv delving into enemy territory... but the Plough in Wysall and White Lion in Rempstone are both great village pubs. Both freehouses too

Was looking on the Camra site the other day and there's few just over the Notts border that look great. Camra historic interiors, well rated beer score and so on. Kegworth seems like it;s got a few corkers too.

Keep meaning to get to the Wagon & Horses in Ibstock
