Fact is we should have signed Costa when he was available instead of some of the other money we blew- imagine those two up top -may have a few sending offs to deal with but what a pair.

Good luck if he fancies a move as long as the money is decent .Great  for us in every way as a player for 1 mill   !!!!

Nacho and Diabete may well be the future with another decent signing. If Mahrez leaves who links with Vardy ? they have an understanding that may not reoccur.

Not forgetting forged off assumptions.

Indeed, but if they are true the guy is an absolute legend with more to give. It baffles me that some folk would let him go so easily.

To me he is the heart and soul of the team.

I’m way more concerned about losing Vardy than Mahrez.

I’d give Vardy his pay increase and potentially make him captain for the next 2-3 seasons.

Keep him sweet.

I disagree.

Leicester City goals - 56

Riyad Mahrez has 10 assists and 12 goals. He's provided Vardy with 7 assists I think, Vardy is class but he heavily relies on service (mainly from Riyad), most of his goals are from inside the box. Mahrez has been directly involved in 39% of our goals this season, that's not even counting his rebounding shot at home to Brighton or his pass to Albrighton for Grays goal away  at Newcastle.

Its no coincidence that when Mahrez plays well, Leicester do.

As a team, we already lack creativity. If Riyad does leave, I'd hope we sign someone to fill his position + a number 10 also.

The club should be well prepared and have replacements earmarked for Mahrez. It's not like him leaving has come out of the blue.

Neither was our ageing defence...

...Bar Maguire it’s took us 3 years to actually do something about it, it seems we are going some way to solve that problem finally though.

Mahrez is class when he’s on it, no doubt.

But he’s one of those players that can sulk and go missing in games too. He’s also incredibly greedy too much of the time.  I think adapting the style of play will help us to move on from him.  I think players like Diabate, Gray, Barnes, & Albrighton will be used intelligently next season, now that Puel has experimented in a few games.  Mahrez will be missed, but I think he’ll be off this summer and quite early on.

As for Vardy, of course he relies on service (I don’t know any goal scoring player that doesn’t rely on service - maybe apart from Messi!). But with our current squad and dodgy recent striker signings, I’d feel there’d be a much bigger gap in the squad if Vardy left over Mahrez.  You’re looking around the squad at the likes of Okazaki, Slim, Leo, Musa & Ian Nacho.  Although the latter looked good in the last two games, I bet we wouldn’t get 20 goals between that lot.

It will be an interesting summer.

If we did lose him, ironically the replacement I'd want is at Atletico. Gameiro.

I called this a few weeks ago, just had a feeling that he might move on. You couldn't begrudge him it either.

Without him and Mahrez it will leave a big hole we're fvcked, but we would have to replace them both sooner or later and maybe getting 80 million to help us do this will help.

Fixed.

As for the rest of your post, be reasonable. You don't let your two best players go at the same time and 80 millions wouldn't do much since players in that price range won't come here.

Why on earth would he want to go to Atletico, when all that's on offer is playing for a fantastic Manager, great stadium, one of the best teams in Europe at playing superb counter attacking football and of course the beautiful city and wall to wall sunshine.

They don't play counter attacking football. It's just one string to their bow.

I was talking in terms of summer transfer windows, this will be the 3rd summer transfer window since then.

Despite them winning the league it needed back up, at the very least. If not replacing/improving.

If Vardy went there, I'd make sure I returned to Madrid (as I promised myself I would) so I could go and watch him play.

And me.
