In terms of national team strikers, we have

Seferovic (donkey) - 4 goals in 20 matches for Benfica last season

Embolo (injured for a long time) - 3 goals in 21 matches for Schalke last season

Drmic (injured for a long time, donkey) - 4 goals in 13 matches for Gladbach last season

Mehmedi (donkey) - 3 goals in 17 Bundesliga matches last season

Derdiyok (donkey) - 3 goals in 19 matches for Galatasaray last season

And Petkovic doesn't like to experiment. He has the aforementioned favourites, partly because of the Balkan connection, and he nominates them no matter how bad they are.

There's a handful of younger, talented Swiss strikers (Albian Ajeti, Michael Frey, Simone Rapp, Dimitri Oberlin, Cédric Itten), but they play in the domestic league and as long as Petkovic is at the helm, nothing will change in that regard.

This is what terrifies me about Wales with Bale getting older.

We've got a reasonable midfield, alright defenders, no forwards.

That’s what Shaqiri CAN give you. Brilliant corner.

True but his laziness at tracking back is why coutinho was wide open to have that goal strike. He has talent though

Would rather we sign Zuber than Shaqiri out of this side though. Class player.

Playing Champions League with Hoffenheim next season. No chance.

I’ll ask again.. what happened to Breel Embolo? Wasn’t he meant to be Switzerland’s next bright thing?

Zonal marking lol.

Was reading a book called The Mixer which suggested that, statistically, more goals are conceded from set pieces whereby the defending team use man marking over zonal marking. Thing is that when a team concede when using zonal marking, the media pounce on it more and blame the marking system whereas when they use man marking it is usually an individual, as opposed to man marking, which is blamed for conceding the goal.

I think zonal marking gets more attention because the goals conceded make the defending team look so much more amateurish.

Neymar is one of the most pathetic individuals in football.

You'd have thought a bit of Messi might have rubbed off at Barca. Like or loathe Messi, he gets the shit kicked out of him repeatedly but he just gets back up and carries on without fuss.

Neymar is just a ****ing twat.
