shailen_patel4 Posted 13 July 2018 Posted 13 July 2018 I’ve loved football since i was small and as my dad never took me to football or allowed me to watch it i cared less about it,till my mum took me to games and allowed me to watch it (even tho most of our games aren’t on sky or BT) and the world cup this year has brought me back to loving it again. I was just wondering if any of your have felt like that as I’ve noticed some people losing interest in the sport itself.
Stadt Posted 13 July 2018 Posted 13 July 2018 Increasing commercialism, ridiculous exaggeration of fouls, degradation of local culture, pricing and a sense of completion after the league win have all meant I’m less arsed than before but then stories unfold like England uniting the nation and you can’t help but fall in love.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 July 2018 Posted 13 July 2018 I think lack of punctuation can cause people to lose interest.
Dan Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 I think it's easy for our fans to lose interest. The journey is the best bit about any success rather than actually lifting the trophy in my eyes but we really have done something we're highly unlikely to witness again to the point we're now very hard to please as a fanbase, and in truth it's a bit depressing.
Guest NGoloMode Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 My dad told me in 1999 when we lost the league cup final that it won't get better than this but I kept watching

Fox92 Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 No. I don't get this "oh we won the league and now I'm not bothered" attitude. I still get excited on the morning of a game, can't wait for Old Trafford in four weeks. I've always loved football and always will.
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 Its a curse, it really is. There were times where I wished I could stop caring as much but football is different to anything on earth. Through rain, wind and snow, thousands upon thousands would walk for miles to watch a game that they know will be awful but they still do it. Football really is a disease. An addiction and we’re all junkies. There’s no rehab, no cold turkey. I check #lcfc on twitter about 200 times a day in case of any transfer news. I’m not sure how much I daydream about beating Cambridge 5-0, Claridge shinning it in, winning League 1, the Championship, the Premier League. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Martin Allen had stayed or if Mandric had never bought the club. Leicester City Football Club are not just in my heart. They’re in my blood, veins, skin, bone. They’re as much a part of me as my arms or legs. It’s in my soul, my DNA. I’ll never lose interest and if there is an afterlife, they better have a good stream in heaven.

Guest Col city fan Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 The World Cup has resurrected my interest/excitement. I’m looking forward now to seeing how Puel can do with his new signings etc.

I followed Leicester in hope not expectation of winning things like the league, and that hasn't changed. We probably won't win it, but it was unlikely we would do before, so why's it any different now? I still enjoy the drama, the highs, the lows, everything. And I still enjoying the game as a whole, looking on and watching what other teams can achieve or how they struggle.
davieG Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 I just love watching football I'd be just as happy watching a local team or a park game, and I am if I ever have to give up LCFC.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 I don’t ever see myself falling out of love with football, if there’s a game on in any league I’ll watch it. Often find myself watching EFL games on a Saturday lunch time, just as it’s a game to watch. The pure unscripted moments that for me no other sport can recreate are worth it alone.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 Was really down after end of last season but the World Cup got me into it again. Now on a bit of a downer again.

Yeah I was like that, I had to cut back, as I was getting nothing done. I'd watch a game most nights of the week, and then my weekend would be taken up by either going to games, or spending the whole weekend watching them. I watch premier league, champions league, and fa cup. I'll watch the championship if I'm in, but I'm not bothered if I don't.
Beliall Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 honestly, if it wasn't for LCFC i wouldn't give 2 ****s about football. wasnt interested before my older brother took me to Filbert street then i was hooked, but these days with all the pathetic play acting and other bollocks, if LCFC disappeared tomorrow, i would be done with the sport
Guest Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 Beyond Leicester I'm not that bothered these days. Don't watch match of the day or anything. Maybe watch champs league final and that's about it.

ScouseFox Posted 14 July 2018 Posted 14 July 2018 after a couple of years of basically complete nothingness bar a handful of (admittedly superb) champions league games, that world cup was a mixture of absolutely loving everything about football and once again, albeit on an international stage now, realising it’ll never be this good again. fully struggling to see the point right now, to the stage where mahrez leaving hasn’t even wounded me that much. would happily fast forward two years and see if the whole county can have another crack at a major tourno.
Sampson Posted 15 July 2018 Posted 15 July 2018 My interest has waned and waxed throughout the years. As fine as the above post above saying it's an addiction there's no cold turkey from is, that's just not true in my experience. Friends and family are far more important than football and for example a prolonged illnesses or deaths of family members or close friends will and have very quickly kicked my interest in football into touch for the immediate future and if does usually take a good spell from Leicester or England somewhere down the line (sometimes years down the line) to get that spark back. There was an interview with Simon Thomas recently after the death of his wife and his young son asking him what he would do on Saturdays now his mum wasn't here anymore and Thomas said he's just lost all interest in football and hopes it will come back one day but he can only think of his son at this time. It's natural to lose interest at times throughout your life. Maybe one day I'll lose interest forever - i just to be really into music when I was younger (probavly more so than football) but completely lost interesting once I started working abroad about 15 years ago for a few years and have never got the passion for that back for example. There are much more important things in life than your hobbies and things and thoughts and interests often get replaced by other things, you'll find other more things in life which put it on the backburner be they good or bad - looking after sick relatives, going travelling, starting a family, starting your own business, moving city/country, going off to university etc. etc. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it, life isn't static and neither are you or your interests.
Nalis Posted 15 July 2018 Posted 15 July 2018 On a match by match basis, I'll always care. In terms of where I hope we finish in the league this season, if we dont finish in the Europa league spots then it doesnt really matter where we finish as long as its above 18th. As for football in general, I really got into this world cup but last season is probably the least I've been interest in the overall picture (bar the FA Cup). Dont know if thats due to our past acheivements or just getting older / having bigger priorities in life.
