As you can see, we're bottom of this, we should be able to get a few more signings based on this . Spend some of that mahrez money :)

Wolves figure might have to change... They had an £18m bid for Patricio at Sporting CP turned down at the start of the window. Then fans stormed their training grounds and attacked Sporting’s players and staff and Patricio and a bunch of other players declared their contracts void. Patricio signed for Wolves for free and now Sporting’s president (who coined the phrase The Dildo Brothers) is suing them for £48m!

8th highest spenders. Something tells me we've spent the Mahrez money already. However it doesn't actually matter cos our owners are minted.

Why would you care about the net spend really?

We are 8th when it comes to spending. When has expenditure ever meant your position in the table, look at 15/16 and then what happened in 16/17 when Leicester did spend big.

It's all about spending the right amount. Just because we got £60m for Mahrez, doesn't mean we have to blow it all. There is other income/expenditure throughout the club that plays into the bigger picture. Looking at figures in isolation means very little.

I think you need to switch the formula around.  60 - 45.9 = +15.1 net spend

Please read what you've wrote again...

Genuinely can't believe Burnley haven't signed anyone with a potential Europa League campaign looming. They're stuffed if they qualify- I'd imagine that they probably have the smallest squad in the league already?

Posted on here just after Burnley qualified, saying Dyche would not be that bothered about Europe and getting to the group stages (an extra six matches). He'll put an understrength team out against Aberdeen and think..."If we win great but if we lose no big deal". Don't forget the likes of Accrington, Port Vale and Lincoln have dumped Dyche teams out of cup competions - all 1-0.

Defour and Brady are both coming back from long-term injury and won't be risked in the two matches against Aberdeen.

Put money on the Dons if you can get decent odds. The board's primary target is PL football - 17th will do - guaranteed for 2019/20.

How do you feel about that? I'd be gutted if we sacrificed a European tour for domestic stability!

Premier League survival is the priority. A shame but Dyche is a pragmatist - he is big enough to take the flak if we lose to Aberdeen. Obviously, the players will want the group stages, but does Dyche if it increases the risk of relegation?

Also, if we signed "extra" players just for Europe, we'd be lumbered with their wages for another two/three years if we got relegated.

Valid points, but surely the rare trips into Europe are one of the things fans of clubs outside the 'big 6' live for- there's some serious away days in there!

Prague, Florence, Split, Seville, Braga, Istanbul, St Petersburg, Athens, Brussels, Rome, Lisbon, Marseille are all potential venues this year...

A couple of days in Florence/Rome/St Petersburg would be very nice but not at the expense of PL survival.

Everton had a disastrous Europa League campaign and were genuine relegation possibles until Fat Sam steadied the ship.
