In other words the rest of preseason is pointless for anyone trying to impress. Great message Claude

no ones impressed though. Not Claude's fault the 2nd tier haven't impressed during pre season, they've been given plenty of opportunities

You really want to play Mendy? That guy was on OGC Nice bench last season.Better play Iborrra,he adds an aerial threat for us from open play.Iheanacho will be too static against possesion based teams like Manu.It will be better to have an extra man in midfield rather than Iheanacho

We'll see I think that Mendy is a class player ideal for our one-touch passing game. He can give creative passes that FTers have been shouting out for. Iborra has looked slow and off-pace so far this season but I'm happy with him starting too.

As for only playing Vardy if you want to sit back and wait until we're 2 down before attacking then play with lone man Vardy upfront. Our problem is that our Defence is still the weakest part of our team. We'll only get a result by closing teams down and attacking.

FIF”s team selections reflect his usual relative poor performances on Superbru. He really doesn’t have much clue tbf.

You’re spot on. We play 3 strikers against Utd, we’ll be pummeled. Our best chance is to fill up the midfield.

:D

Your way is what we did too often last season. Negative football where we don't attack until we've gone behind. It always ends in failure as it did against the top 6 every game last season. We need to play high tempo attacking football and take the lead. Then we can bring Hamza on to shore up the defence.

We picked up 8 points vs top 6 teams last season under puel. Pretty sure that's more than Claudio & Shakey managed in the 16/17 season

I agree in the high tempo attacking football theory, alas Claude doesn’t.

Thats where the wheels came off last season, why it all turned to shit last season, and why I believe it wil not work out this coming season.

Exactly. We should have got 6 points from Shitty Arse alone.

If he was a manager who the majority liked, coming out and saying he knows his starting XI would be seen as a positive and seen as us looking well prepared!

The quotes he has made don't match the headline at all as well (obviously)

This is the same Mendy that couldn’t get into the Nice starting eleven last season, meanwhile you were chastising Mahrez for being what was it? Our fourth best player?

What planet are you living on?

And why does a five man midfield automatically mean we have to play ponderous football? It can be great for quick counterattacking.

Cmon FIF you must start trying harder.

tbf Puel rated Mendy when he was Nice's manager; Favre isn't Puel's carbon copy so it's not a given that he'd have been preferred over other midfielders who might've fit Favre's system better. Mendy was also returning to full fitness from his ankle injury hell while he was there.

Right then! I’ve decided there must be more to Mendy than we’ve seen so far. I’m putting his crapness down to injury. Im giving him a chance and let’s see if all those bleating about him are right.

Schmeichel

Ricardo - Maguire - Evans - Chilwell

Ndidi - Silva

Gray - Maddison - Diabate

Vardy

- Back four is what I want to become a settled back four this season on the assumption that Maguire stays, and that Chilwell grows as the season goes on. I do believe Chilwell for all his flaws wasn't helped by the fact our entire defence was a disorganised mess for the majority of last season, and maybe the two signings address that. I'm going to put it bluntly about Morgan but Man Utd can have most of their side out for this game, but if he plays we'll lose, he's been great for us but he absolutely shot to shit now, regularly at fault at the end of last season and pre-season doesn't look to have changed that.

- Silva over Iborra as he's a bit more dynamic and he needs a proper run in the side. Also think Iborra's a better option to bring off the bench should we, god forbid, be winning the game in the second half.

- Specifically played Gray and Diabate on those sides so that neither, Gray in-particular, are inclined to cut in and twat it over time and time again. I also like the thought of Maddison releasing those three on the counter.

Mendy, at this moment, deserves to be considered for a start next to Ndidi @ Old Trafford.

Iborra has looked mistake prone. Silva did not impress Saturday but looked good at the World Cup. King has actually looked good this preseason but we know his limitations.

Schmeichel

Pereira, Maguire, Evans, Chilwell

Choudhury Ndidi

Albrighton, Maddison, Gray

Vardy

I think we will sign another right winger and they’ll start instead of Albrighton.

Presuming we have the same squad

Schmeichel

Evans Morgan Maguire

Ricardo                       Chilwell

       Ndidi        Mendy

              Maddison

Iheanacho    Vardy

Much the same but Iborra making a five man midfield and Musa for Vardy down the middle.
