No Vardy and Maguire then.

CB looking weak.

If Mourinho manages to get his world cup semi finalists and finalists back and in the team for Friday I'd have to say this could be incorrect from Puel but Darnell will do the business and Iheanacho loves a goal against them bastards.

So if Maguire is unavailable and Evans is injured and Benalouane is bombscare, it will possibly be Morgan and Johnson at CB.

Two solid fellas.

Has to be the heftiest CB pairing the Premier League has seen since, well, Huth and Morgan.

When those two lads jump up together for a corner, a new hill will form in Australia.

They should just link arms and hold a goalpost each.

What odds it's mind games and both play?

There's no way we simply let them have a longer holiday and miss such a tough opener. It's not like they need to be tactically integrated in to the squad.

Morgan, Benny, Johnson, Knight and Fuchs are the centre half options.

(If Puel is telling the truth about Maguire)

Someone who can't play Puel's football and an arrangement of the inexperienced, out of form and out of position.

If we get anything with those in central defence it will be astonishing.

If we're forced to have those in central defence I'd be tempted to start Hamza to screen the defence.

The thread title said starting 11 for the Man United game and some have said Maguire, Vardy and Evans. Evans is doubtful and if anyone thinks Vardy and Maguire will start against Man United then you must be an ostrich!

I hope Puel's playing mind games, cus if he’s not I can’t see any way we'll get anything out of the game.

Shame if so as is a unique opportunity to give Utd a bloody nose!

Providing we give either of Darnell/Daniel a chance as opposed to Benny, then at least Wes will have help trying to track whoever it is, he is supposed to be marking.

Morgan played all summer other year and still came back to play the season. Granted England made the semis but Vardy rarely played ffs.

I hope Darnell Johnson gets a chance.

Johnson hasn’t signed his contract yet so he may not even be here

I think Harry might start purely because of the injuries and Vards on the bench.

Probably completely wrong though. Puel doesn't seem the type for mind games but he surely can't start Benny.

Or they just have a different opinion to you?

I think after iheanacho's showing vardy might start on the bench but other than that I think there's no way Maguire's not playing.

According to the Mercury the full quote from Puel on Vardy/Maguire was:

“If we are serious I think they cannot participate in the first game, with just five days training with the team.

“They normally need more time, but we will see together with calm.

“We try to give good game time to work with the team and to make progress with their fitness, and it is important to respect this and to prevent injury.

"Of course Jamie and Harry are valuable players for us but we need to protect them.

If they are available to play in their minds it is a good thing because this shows their desire to come back and fight with the team, but we have to take a protective decision from us.”

No idea what to make of that to be honest...seems a bit vaguer than some of the headlines suggest.

To be quite honest, I think its a disgrace if we start with Benny and Wes.

We ended last season with Benny behind Wes, Maguire and Dragovic and that's where he should of been at best.

We've known for some time that Drago wasn't coming back and we've known for weeks that Maguire would be a doubt so why the hell have we not purchased more centre backs?

Yes its unfortunate that Evans has got injured but even so, its poor by the club to be in this position and an absolute step back
