As to how we will actually line up, who knows? The man is a clown and a thumping is to be expected with 0 shots on or off target.

A clown is someone who thinks nampalys Mendy could have replaced N'Golo Kante.

A clown is somebody who drops Amartey and Dragovic for Simpson and Morgan after 5 consecutive clean sheets. Somebody who gets thumped 5-0 by Palace. Losing home games to nil against lower half sides with zero (Yes zero) shots on target. Relegation is on the cards, I'm finding it really hard to be optimistic here.

What games didn't we have a shot on target? We got smashed pretty much every week under Claudio in 16/17, would you call him a clown? Also, dropping Simpson and Morgan has been impossible for the last 3 managers, you don't know what goes on behind the scenes. The fact we didn't go down with that team in 16/17 makes me think that the chances of us going down this season are slim.

A clown is someone who makes the team safe, finds a way to beat Spurs and Arsenal, deals with any number of random difficulties without once blaming anyone but himself............give me strength.

I'd actually give us a chance for this match. Manchester United have only had all of their players back as of today and I don't think Mourinho will play all of Lukaku, Pogba, Fellaini, Lingard and Rashford in the first game. He'll probably keep most of them on the bench with maybe Lukaku up top to start. Thus playing them on the first game of the season away might actually be the best possible time to play them and I think it's possible (if not probable) that we might get something from the game. They are still better than us 1-11, but with the style Mourinho plays I actually expect us to have more of the ball than they do.

 

As of right now I'd play 4-2-3-1:

                       Kasper

Ricardo   Evans  Maguire Chilwell

                  Ndidi    Silva

       Gray   Maddison   Albrighton

                      Vardy

 

On the bench: Ward, Iborra, Fuchs, Musa (yes really), Nacho, Morgan, Simpson

 

Something to keep an eye on is that ased on pre-season form I could see Mendy making the bench of even starting the game in place of Silva / Iborra. He's used to playing Puel's system and he's been quite effective in some of the friendlies so far. That squad means no Diabate, but he's been awful in preseason so far whereas Musa looks like a player reborn. I'm not saying Musa is the answer or even that we should keep him, but he was my MOTM in the match against Udinese the other day, whereas Diabate has been making a series of poor decisions which you'd expect for a young player plucked from Ligue 2.

Surely Maguire and Vardy aren't going to play? Maguire was still on the piss in Ibiza only a few days ago lol

 

Presuming that's the case and presuming he doesn't see Slim as having a future then:

pretty certain they will i think... They only had a couple weeks off as they kept fit right up until the world cup final day so quite a well earned mini break in which they will lose no fitness.

I don’t think Vardy and Maguire will be ready to start.

 

Here’s how I think Puel will set up the side (this is probably premature since this week should give us a good indication):

Maguire will play whether he’s had any pre season or not. No way we’re startig the first game with Benny in the team. At least the window closes before so if we’re going to sign a new defender at least we’ll have him before this game. Could be a blessing if it forces us to get a centre back in. 

 

As long as Maguire isn’t sold.
