Seven City loanees were in action over the weekend, including Fousseni Diabate, Josh Knight and Daniel Iversen


Leicester City loanee Filip Benkovic made his first start in more than two months as Celtic edged closer to the Scottish Premiership title.

The Croatian centre-back has made a couple of substitute appearances since suffering an ankle injury in January, but was back in the starting line-up at the weekend, playing 63 minutes of the Hoops’ 0-0 draw with Livingston.

And he was not the only defender making an injury return.

 

Josh Knight finally made his second Peterborough appearance, back from an ankle injury he sustained 22 minutes into his Posh debut in February.

Knight came on for the final seven minutes at the weekend, operating in defensive midfield to help Peterborough seal a 2-0 win over Gillingham and keep their League One play-off hopes alive.


 
Adrien Silva’s personal unbeaten run at Monaco was extended to eight games, but only after Stevan Jovetic’s 94th-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Guingamp.

Silva missed last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Caen through suspension, but played 90 minutes on his return and almost opened his account for the principality club, clipping the crossbar with a 25-yard strike.

L’Equipe ranked Silva as Monaco’s top performer, awarding him a six, although local newspaper Nice-Matin gave the Portuguese international a four, writing that he was "physically dominated" by Guingamp's midfielders.

 

Daniel Iversen kept his third clean sheet in eight days as Oldham continued their late League Two play-off push with a 2-0 win at Colchester.

That’s now 15 clean sheets in 45 appearances in all competitions for the Dane, who ensured the latest shut-out with a superb save in the final minutes, clawing away a goal-bound free-kick.

 

Fousseni Diabate made his ninth consecutive start for Sivasspor as the Turkish Super Lig returned after a brief pause.

After a stint as a centre-forward while Sivasspor negotiated injuries and suspensions, Diabate was moved back to the right wing and almost grabbed his first goal for the club, denied one-on-one by Kayserispor’s keeper with the score still goalless.

Visitors Kayserispor went on to win 3-1.

 

Elliott Moore and OH Leuven’s battle against relegation continued as they twice came from behind to draw with Roeselare.


George Thomas dropped to the bench for Scunthorpe’s 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury, coming on for the final 11 minutes.

 

Callum Elder is back at Ipswich after a hernia operation but did not feature in their 2-1 win over Bolton, while Bartosz Kapustka (Leuven) had surgery on his damaged knee ligaments this week.

Darnell Johnson is close to a first-team return, playing for Hibernian's reserves against Rangers on Monday, but Islam Slimani (Fenerbahce) is still out of favour while Andy King (Derby) is out until the end of the season.

Leicester City winger Fousseni Diabate was flipping for joy at the weekend after he scored his first goal for loan club Sivasspor.

Starting his 10th consecutive match, Diabate swept a cutback into the bottom corner late in the first half to earn a 1-1 draw for Sivasspor in their Turkish Super Lig clash at Konyaspor.

Pleased with his effort, Diabate celebrated with a somersault.

 

The Portuguese midfielder earned a 5/10 rating from both L’Equipe and local paper Nice-Matin, a par score in France, but again received rave reviews from Monaco fans, one supporter declaring that the 30-year-old "was the only positive thing" about the game.

Elliott Moore and OH Leuven took a big step towards survival in Belgium’s First Division B.

The centre-back helped City’s sister club keep a clean sheet as they defeated Roeselare 3-0, a result that leaves them needing just two points from their final two games to be certain of avoiding relegation.


Josh Knight made a brief cameo as Peterborough kept up their fight for a League One play-off spot.

The City academy graduate came off the bench with a minute to play in Posh’s 1-0 win at Blackpool.

George Thomas played the final 25 minutes as Scunthorpe were handsomely beaten at home by Burton.

The 3-0 defeat keeps the Iron in relegation trouble, with Thomas “unable to make an impact”.

Daniel Iversen’s run of clean sheets ended at three as Oldham drew 2-2 with Swindon.

However, the Danish goalkeeper did produce a vital save with an outstretched leg in the final moments to ensure the Latics earned a point in League Two.

Filip Benkovic was an unused substitute as Celtic beat Aberdeen 3-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-finals to continue their charge towards another treble.

Having been knocked out in the quarter-finals, there was a free weekend for Hibernian and Darnell Johnson .

Callum Elder played no part as Ipswich’s Championship relegation was confirmed following a 1-1 draw with Birmingham. Elder made his return from injury for the Tractor Boys’ reserve side in midweek.

Islam Slimani remains out of favour at Fenerbahce and was left out of their squad for the 1-1 draw with Galatasaray, while Andy King (Derby) and Bartosz Kapustka (OH Leuven) are out for the season with injury.

psg won the league earlier as Lille drew so will be a party atmosphere at the parc des princes ..... can Adrien help mess up the party

Might be a decent top of the table match, Peterbough against Sunderland. Sunderland trying to get a bigger playoff place and Peterborough trying to get into the playoffs. Two more matches for Knight after this one. He'll have had about four or five league one matches by the end of the season. If he impresses in the pre-season I'd expect a Championship loan.

He would be fine in our side if we didn’t play in the premier league !   Lacks the quick sprint to make up for his lack of physicality. 

Oh I reckon we could just about accommodate Mbappe in our team.
