This bloke has played in Zagreb v Split games. The fixtures and league are very comparable. Rijeka are your Aberdeen. A couple of other teams are your Hearts and Hibs. I’m sure he will learn a lot playing Hamilton, Patrick Thistle and Livingston. Where do you think he’ll ‘learn’ more, playing in the Europa League and at a full Celtic Park most weeks or in a 3/4 empty KP against West Ham’s 18 year olds? Personally think it’s a good move. 1
m4DD0gg Posted 31 August 2018 Posted 31 August 2018 sure morgan has arranged this and will be driving him up personally

So are you saying his development was 100% attributable to playing in the SPL and not the EPL? Interesting. Quoted the part where I stated that Celtic were 100% responsable for his development, I said it work out OK for Van Djik at Celtic. There is no way of judging the impact of a club on a players development just because of the level of competition. Who to say Vardy at Fleetwood or Marhez at Le Harve would have developed better or worse at club at a higher level. It's all subjective..... Edited 31 August 2018 by coolhandfox

Personally think it’s a good move. Celtic will also target the Europa Cup as there main competition so you would expect them to make at least the second group stage which is at least 12 more games at that level. The SPL will probably be won at a canter again so he'll be focusing on the four big games against Rangers and European football, all a decent standard and character building.

It is indeed totally subjective and therefore different views will always prevail and that is why people post on here. We will have to wait and see how this deal transpires down the line. Just becomes tiresome on ocassions that some on here (not you!) stick in petty digs if your view dares to differ from theirs. 1

I just hope the lad’s taken it well. Moves to England and is immediately loaned off elsewhere with no chance to settle. A league in his head which is probably no different to his home country. Celtic will get 50k for Rangers and European knockout stages. You’ll struggle to see 30k there for every other game despite wvst the attendance figures say
les-tah Posted 31 August 2018 Posted 31 August 2018 Dont like Celtic but it will be good for him to play in front of 50,000 week in week out against live opponents opposed to under 23s football in front of 45 at holmes park.

BraunstoneFox23 Posted 31 August 2018 Posted 31 August 2018 Hope we have the option to recall him in case of emergency. Really hope it helps with his development, he looked like a beast in the Croatian league! 1

To spend 13M on a player and farm him immediately before he has had the chance to settle at LCFC, and this, to a standard of football that is inferior from whence he came (and the EFL Championship) is, quite baffling. Developing a young player against SPL strikers is not ideal. The Championship surely would have been a much better option. I wholeheartedly agree! IF he has to be loaned out a decent Championship side would seem to make much more sense as whoever the opposition would be are likely to be much better than in Scotland and also more akin to the Premiership. He also needs to understand Puel's style of play which I understand is introduced to our u23s. There are some decent enough strikers in the Championship that would be far more testing than Scotland. 2

Thanks Pal. This is was just an opinion which of course may or may not turn out to be the correct solution. But apparently, my post was negative
