MPH Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 I’d be up for that. The Turk is ahead of him in the pecking order and so is Morgan who surely is in his last year...
inckley fox Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 Would the SPL help his development more than going back to, say, Croatia? I'd have thought the Championship might be a better education for him. 2

bpfox Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 here we go again we sign players, then never play them, its not like we are so solid at the back. no wonder more than 1/2 the players we have signed have failed, they must just lose interest. 1
Matt Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 Well I did say he wouldn't be getting ahead of Morgan...
Webbo Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 This would be good for him and us. Bit of his transfer fee back and let him make his mistakes and learn somewhere else. It's a no brainer. 2

Yeah, it's not as if we're the only team struggling to integrate players in the grand scheme of things, is it? We've got five centre-backs on our books, and Benalouane is still around, as well. There has been no indication so far that Puel is opting for three at the back, so that's one or two too many central defenders, anyway. In the worst case, Johnson is the emergency option. A loan move isn't a bad option, especially if we insert a clause that we can re-call him if needed. 1

st albans fox Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 Good idea - Brendan is a decent coach. He will learn loads more there than in our U23 or on our bench. and the championship can be too demanding - we would want him at one of the better clubs and pressure on results and performances could be difficult for him resulting in him not playing enough. 3

Bayfox Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 If he's currently 4th in the pecking order for a start here and was brought for the future then it makes sense to get him some football. Maybe a loan until Jan makes sense as a starting point.

Strange comment. Do you want us to play 7 CBs in each game? 3 hours ago, HighPeakFox said: He's been here 5 minutes ffs. and he's 21 and possibly 4th or 5th CB at the moment. Seems a great idea to give him a 3 month loan at the Scottish champions under a decent coach and then see how things are in January.
Haywood_6 Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 Dare i say it - Morgan has had a decent start to the season and he won't get ahead of Maguire or Soyuncu. So he's left with the U23's Celtic would be far better than that, it makes sense.

Whilst a lot of people dismiss the Scottish top league, it's probably a good learning ground for a defender. Refs are inclined to let tackles go a little more than in the Premier league and it can be quite 'rough and tumble'. If you're playing for one of the Glasgow clubs, you face pretty hostile away fans every two weeks, often in smallish stadiums with pitches where the fans are very close to you. Add to this, that you are expected to win every week and the pressure that brings. You're right, a 3 month loan, if he is likely to play, wouldn't be the worst idea. Especially if he is seen as 5th choice at the moment. 1
Alf Bentley Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 Might we not need him as a sub? Benkovic by name and Benchovic by nature? In all seriousness, I can see the benefits of this potential loan, as others have explained, if he's not likely to get much 1st team match time in the short-term. I'd hope that it would only be a 3-month loan, though. Committed and amusing chap as he is, hopefully Benny will leave at some point, Morgan is likely to be winding down, Johnson probably not ready to play a major role....whereas Benkovic has already played a lot of games for Dinamo Zagreb, including a fair few European games. Would be good to have him back, transitioning his way into 1st team involvement during the second half of the season. Will be interesting to see who we play at centre back v. Fleetwood: I'm guessing that Maguire and Morgan will be rested, but Soyuncu isn't fully fit, is he? 2 out of 3 from Benkovic, Benalouane & Johnson, then? Looking forward to seeing a few of the squad contenders.

Alex_LCFC Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 All for him going out on loan. Would much rather he go to the spl or championship for a season rather than not developing in the u23. Look at kapustka who wasn't quite ready for first team, was left in the under 23s and has not developed at all. Instead he wasted a season or so when he could have learnt the physicality of the championship or spl. Think the club have learnt from that mistake
Buzzell Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 Everyone knows we signed him for the future. He isn’t getting into the side because there’s too much competition anyway so obviously makes sense to loan him out so he can get game time.

LCCFox96 Posted 27 August 2018 Posted 27 August 2018 I'd be up for this providing he's likely to rack up a high number of appearances (Europa League progression will help this). I know it's shortly after his arrival but he's had 3 weeks to familiarise himself with the Leicester set up which will be beneficial in the long term. As others have said, the opportunity to play in a very physical league in the UK will be good for him. I'd be very content with Maguire, Evans, Morgan and Soyuncu as our 4 centre backs with Johnson as back up and Benlouane (permanent) and Benkovic (loan) being moved elsewhere.
