Bayfox Posted 19 September 2018 Posted 19 September 2018 Anyone likely to be tempted into buying one? https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/explore/playstation-classic/
RoboFox Posted 19 September 2018 Posted 19 September 2018 Think it's a bit gimmicky and is a slightly cynical nostalgic cash-in, much like the SNES mini, Mega Drive mini and all the other minis that are being released. 20 pre-set games isn't great either, given you don't have a choice which ones are included and I'd guess that most of, if not all of them are available on the PS store or equivalent. My 1995 PS1 was still working last time I checked, remarkably. Can't beat opening that tray, loading in the disc and hearing that sweet, sweet sound.
spacemunky Posted 19 September 2018 Posted 19 September 2018 I was first in line when the original came out here
silebyboy Posted 19 September 2018 Posted 19 September 2018 If I bought one it would probably get as much use as my Snes mini, so I’ll pass.
TiffToff88 Posted 19 September 2018 Posted 19 September 2018 I still have my original PS1 (And all my old consoles) and don't use it, so i don't think id bother with this
kingcarr21 Posted 19 September 2018 Posted 19 September 2018 The only mini I would be interested in are mini gamecube and mini N64. If I see blast corps available on a mini N64 then i'm on it. God I loved that game
iamafox Posted 19 September 2018 Posted 19 September 2018 Don't see the point when you can just play PS1 games on your PS2/PS3

lcfcrinaldi Posted 19 September 2018 Posted 19 September 2018 I would consider buying this actually, for the nostalgia the only thing that would stop me is that I think £90 is a bit steep for something that would probably not get much more than a months worth of use until it sits in a drawer somewhere.
VLC86 Posted 19 September 2018 Posted 19 September 2018 Where can I see the full list of games? It needs to include Worm, Destruction Derby 2 and Hogs of War.
CollinsLCFC Posted 20 September 2018 Posted 20 September 2018 I'm waiting to see the full list. Probably be tempted if it had Tony Hawk, but then maybe wait for a price drop.
Innovindil Posted 20 September 2018 Posted 20 September 2018 Pointless. Especially for £90. Better to pick up a pi and stick emulators on it.
don_danbury Posted 20 September 2018 Posted 20 September 2018 pretty much sony trying one on. you can literally play ps1 games on anything these days so this is pretty pointless.
iamafox Posted 29 October 2018 Posted 29 October 2018 The full list of games has been revealed for those interested: Battle Arena Toshinden Cool Boarders 2 Destruction Derby Final Fantasy VII Grand Theft Auto Intelligent Qube Jumping Flash Metal Gear Solid Mr Driller Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee Rayman Resident Evil Director's Cut Revelations: Persona Ridge Racer Type 4 Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo Syphon Filter Tekken 3 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Twisted Metal Wild Arms
samlcfc Posted 29 October 2018 Posted 29 October 2018 It's bound to make them some money due to collectors and people who have plenty of spare cash to spend on a few ancient games. It doesn't even take a decent laptop to run an emulator that can support PS1 games now.
kingcarr21 Posted 30 October 2018 Posted 30 October 2018 Would much rather they sell the Classic with no games and create a digital library with all games available for like £5 each.

More people would buy it if that was the case. And if the non-European exclusives were made available as well.

Beliall Posted 3 January 2019 Posted 3 January 2019 I was tempted but after seeing what others have said about it, im not interested. the emulator is shit, and the games look worse than they would if played on the original system. Basically a rasberry pi with a poor PS emulator shoved in a box for £80
stripeyfox Posted 3 January 2019 Posted 3 January 2019 Most of these games don't age very well. They're brilliant in your nostalgia mind, but that's probably where they should stay. There's an NES emulator on the Nintendo Switch. At first you think "great" and dive into Donkey Kong or Mario Golf hoping to rekindle the happy memories from the glory days of the mid 1980's but actually you pretty quickly realise that they're a bit shit.... For my nostalgia fix there are plenty of youtube videos of old classic games...
Carl the Llama Posted 3 January 2019 Posted 3 January 2019 It doesn't even have all that many games considering the possibilities. You're better off emulating the games you want to play on a computer.
Bayfox Posted 3 January 2019 Author Posted 3 January 2019 I decided against it as well. Think they miss judge what you want. My lad had a switch and I'm living Mario kart. But legit would love a master system style retro. But with bang basic games like outrun, paper boy, California games etc.
somebum Posted 4 January 2019 Posted 4 January 2019 This is absolutely superb, can't believe the negative reviews.. When you think you are paying peanuts for hours, if not days of fun... the graphics are amazing, such detail, sometimes they can be a little bit too realistic that's my only concern. Picked mine up at a great price so I was lucky, the local corner shop of all places, he even threw in a guarantee. Apparently if the burning smell ever stops I should take it back to him asap as this is a sign the processor is working properly, but I don't know much about computers. Bargain at £180!!
