People love to say it’s harmless and that but I’ve never met any daily smoker of it that didn’t become a complete moron as a result.

Daily use is extreme for any drug really though including alcohol.

I used to smoke it daily a long time ago and it does completely mess you up, my life improved immeasurably since I stopped.

In moderation I guess it is a different story.

Are people really saying it's harmless though?

I don't think that's what people are using as an argument for legalisation, in any case. It can be harmful and I would hope that most people pushing legalisation admit that it can be, but that in and of itself is not a reason for it to remain illegal.

Plenty of people use it in moderation and go about their daily lives without any issues.

Costock has made a good point about excess/moderation too.

It was.

I walked past it wearing ripped jeans and blazing a massive joint and turned my nose up at it.

Thought about moaning about it on FoxesTalk but realised I've got more important things to do with my time.

Was this after you left the game early?

It was.

I got there 10 minutes late, sat for a moment and decided to get moving to miss the traffic in the 12th minute.

Roads were empty. Great decision.

Most coppers won't do anything if they caught you in possession. Just take it off you and a slap on the wrist. As a younger lad, I've been exposed to it a lot, people just causally smoke it these days.

Don't think anybody actually says that though (nobody honest, anyway), but if you're not smoking daily, not pre-disposed to any mental health issues and if you vape it (I don't personally but I'm a bit of a dinosaur in that respect) then it can't be too far off harmless seeing how the majority of known problems with the drug are related to mental health issues or the toxic side-effects of smoke inhalation.

As far as its addictive properties go it's not physically addictive but it can be habit forming (especially if you smoke spliffs with tobacco in).  That said if you want to see people with a higher dependence and lower impulse control than most pot smokers you only need go look at the FIFA threads in the Computers and Gaming section. Criminal what EA get away with.

Feel the same way about daily alcohol users.

Too busy hiding their inadequacies or trying to increase their machismo through a foul smelling over priced liquid. Worse still they seem to think its OK and are free to wander the streets in any condition making a mess disrupting others lives.

Any drug is dangerous or unpleasant unless used in moderation.

Some of the most impressive people I've ever worked with have surprised me, when I've been invited round, by smoking cannabis. I've learnt never to be surprised, and you certainly can't say everyone who smokes it is a moron any more than you can look down on someone for clutching a crate of beer in the supermarket car park. From my experience no recreational drug improves anyone's personality unless you happen to have taken the same drug at the same time. In my case that might be alcohol, but I've known and still know a lot of brighter, more brilliant (and richer) people than me who take drugs, without managing to act like arseholes all the time. They're not all like the sorts of people you meet at Momentum rallies, or sitting in circles pretending they're Buddhists at Glastonbury.

I know someone who smokes daily and has a very full life getting a job done whilst studying also, as well as tending to home gardening amongst other hobbies

Not to mention having a gf and a bit on the side

Not slowing him down lol

That last bit falls into the “being a complete moron” part of his post surely.

Makes me laugh how people that wouldnt think twice about supping on something brewed and distilled to get their high or eat chemicles that they know zero actual facts about to fix a headache can then frown on someone smoking a plant thats grown out of the ground....just because someone they will never meet decided years ago that its illegal simply because they couldnt fugure out how to earn tax money from it.

Dont smoke it myself any more but the irony does make me chuckle.

I think some research into why it was first banned will surprise a lot of people to. Because it was in wide spread use until it was used as scare tactics and excuse to harass.

William Randolph Hearst has a lot to answer for.

Anybody interested in the topic of legality, I highly recommend reading 'Chasing the Scream', a very insightful book.

I think attitudes towards it are slowly becoming more accepting, personally I find it hugely ironic the stigma that surrounds it when the majority of the populous has no problem with excessive drinking and the issues that arise as a result.

It's like anything, the key is moderation.

consider myself to be a somewhat capable and successful person and I get high most days every day.

people have been naively led to believe that stoners are lazy and unproductive but you only have to look at the innovation in the industry to see how driven and motivated a lot of them can be.

a significant number of your most favourite artists, musicians, writers, actors, etc. are probably all 'daily' weed users.

you're most likely already a lazy **** if you 'let' weed make you lazy.

I manage a £4million a year company and have all the nice things that go with that - nice car, nice house, nice holidays. I have great relationships with friends, a wife, etc. I have a shit ton of hobbies and do lots of exercise / running.

so being a stoner does not make you a complete moron OR lazy, at all.
