I'm impressed you've done so well and admire your passion for the game, the way you describe it is lifelike, and rekindles that old flame that once burned for the game for me. On the other side, I fear the game has passed me by, there's too much on the screen for me to deal with now and the processing of day to day stuff I can no longer justify if you know what I mean! So perhaps my editor post was said in slight jealousy! Please continue your updates, I find them entertaining. How many years have you been playing football manager? Ever thought of writing a tactics guide? Is this also sarcasm? i'm the same with the detail as I've seen others are. I find myself skipping a lot of the news, especially now after 11 seasons of reading the same shite. I've never done a pre-match tactics briefing thing, I do nothing with training except change the odd players position to learn option. I don't even bother with team talks either, I just let the assistant. I tend to do half time and full time though. And tactics I know nothing about, I've always used the same style at Trayal but mixed the formations a little from 433 and 4231. I know zilch about player roles either, mine are probably set up to be a train wreck but it works somehow. I've played since 05 and felt it peaked in 2013/14 and since then I just find it all too much. I tend to take more of an interest in weird things such as friendlies. In the past i'd let the assistant take charge but I like to take charge so I can manage players getting their match fitness up. I choose my friendlies carefully and also nerd out with details such as i'll go on a tour in the summer to Scandinavian countries who are in the middle of the season whose match fitness will be greater. In the winter we always do a training camp but then play in a Balkans Cup where I invite champions of other Balkan countries to take part Take a great interest in the academy and place them carefully on loan at clubs that will give them first team football. I'm lucky that plenty end up going and playing regularly at Super League clubs Our scouts are all at a very high level now and have found a few gems over the last few years worldwide however i'm happy to just look around myself via the countries menu. Never been a fan of building a team full of cheap South Americans but I felt I could fit atleast one in my side and found one sat in the Chile u21's. Thats the guy who sold for 26m. I also found the Czech guy who sold for 25. # The bloke im signing from Partizan next year and the regen I signed from Mladost who I have high hopes for. Signed for about 250k I think
Mark_w Posted 20 April 2019 Posted 20 April 2019 Does anyone have any experience with either the Switch version or just FM Touch in general? I've gone from 1000+ hours in steam each year to under 300 for the last few versions (not getting through more than a couple of seasons in any of my main saves I don't think). Got a Switch now and tempted for the faster gameplay and extra mobility, but does anyone know how much/what specifics you lose?

Touch is more than enough for me. The Switch version is the same as Touch on the PC but the controls take a bit of getting used to.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 21 April 2019 Posted 21 April 2019 we're all going on a european tour a european tour a european tour wahey
stripeyfox Posted 22 April 2019 Posted 22 April 2019 Came back to a save after a few months off the game and picked up my City team in the 2020-21 season. All was going swimmingly until I realised that my save had "hard brexited". FFS! Can't sign anyone who wasn't born here it seems. But that doesn't stop my scouts travelling Europe finding players who "would probably fail to get a work permit, even after an appeal". FFS Rudkin! What are you playing at?
Collymore Posted 23 April 2019 Posted 23 April 2019 Just beat Liverpool 5-0! top of the league after 4 matches, Ndidi is a mosnter, he's now got 4 in 4!
stripeyfox Posted 24 April 2019 Posted 24 April 2019 Is Brexit broken in the game? Since my hard brexit I've had difficulty in my scouts locating any players from EU countries who they consider would get a work permit. Fine, I've been signing English players mainly. But then I noticed the news feed "rumours" were linking some of these EU players with English clubs "Tottenham are interested in xxxx" for example. Now in the January window I noticed that one of the players who my scouts thought would not get a permit (French, 1 cap) has signed for Man City!

I guess just worth ignoring your scouts and seeing whether you can get one then going forwards. I quite like the idea of a hard Brexit Leicester game, should make it a bit more of a challenge.

Seems a bit crap if the scout thinks no one can get a work permit when other clubs are signing EU players!

I think it depends on the exact circumstances of Brexit, which can get pushed through in any number of ways. For example, in one of my saves the work permit system was abandoned altogether but there was a cap placed on foreign players in a squad. In another, any player on over 8k per week would automatically get a work permit, with 4k+ allowing them to play youth games and any less than that meaning they couldn't get a permit at all. In your Man City example they might have just chucked loads of money at the player. It might be worth searching through your inbox to see if you can find the news item detailing the final exit from the EU as it usually contains all the details on the new system.

I've not played FM in donkey's but whenever I've done a save in the England leagues I'd always moonlight as England manager as soon as the chance arose and use the national pool as my own personal scouting vehicle to build a squad focused on home-grown talent. Nothing like getting deep into a save and tearing up the league then taking mostly the same players to the latter stages of the World Cup. I don't know why none of today's 'best' managers have never thought of this.

Seems my Brexit means non British players have to paid a minimum of £8000/week to gain a work permit. So it would seem that Rudkin is being an arse if he thinks the players he's been scouting wouldn't get a work permit as they'd all be earning more than that. Tosser. I'll see if I can sign someone now and if it lets me!

Found a young Italian player who Rudkin said "would fail to get a work permit, even after an appeal". Offered him a deal, and Work Permit was granted immediately. Also - discovered on the same screen that I could apply the unlockable "no work permits" (Playing FM Touch). So could have got around it anyway if I'd needed too! Right, here's you P45 Rudders!

I want to make a sort of British Super League system with all the teams from the English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish teams (and possibly even British Overseas Territories like Gibraltar). But whenever i do this i seem to encounter problems with the cup competitions. The league systems always work perfectly but certain teams tend to disappear from the cup competitions for some reason and i can never work out what i'm doing wrong. Any ideas? I've been dabbling a lot with creating my own league systems over the last few years. My biggest gripe with the game is how crap the AI is at competing with you once you get established so I like to make myself a super league of sorts to try and make it harder. I've just created myself a fantasy save based on a scenario where Italy and France pool their domestic resources to create a joint league system to compete with England, Germany and Spain. I put the top forty French clubs in to Italy in the same way Swansea are in England but still based in Wales. I then cleared everyone's debt, increased the reputations, bank balances and attendances of every club in my new Italy. I then made every Italian competition extinct. Every single one, leave nothing. From scratch I then made a simple 7 tier league system with 20 teams each. To keep it simple and a genuine meritocracy I had no playoffs, the top and bottom three go up / down in all leagues except the first and last (obviously no promotion from top league and no relegation from 7. Closed shop keeps it simpler.) I made the TV and prize money match the Prem and changed the coefficient so that Italy was the strongest nation in UEFA and I swapped France with Netherlands to bump them down a bit. Then I took over Venice as relative minnows and I'll see how I do. Early signs are that it's working, there's been some sensational transfer business in the top two leagues with Torino and Lyon especially signing some absolute gems. Oh and I made three cups. One is for teams in the top three leagues and the winner gets an EL place, one is for the bottom four leagues and one is a season-closing super cup between the league and Cup winners. This was all pretty easy to do. It took me about five or six hours to set up but obviously I made an enormous amount of changes and you're probably going to do less than I did with reputations and budgets etc. This video is a brilliant start up guide to flesh out around, it's what I used. It's a few years old but it's still accurate. If you have any questions or want any help let me know. I've done this quite a few times now (I made a South American league system, an Iberian super league, etc.) Most important thing to remember when doing cross nation stuff, which this guy doesn't cover, is to make sure you back fill the leagues you take from. So if you put Celtic in the Prem, make sure you chuck a place holder team in the SPL for example so it's still got correct number of teams. Also make sure the nation for Celtic is correct. "Nation" is where the team actually is from, its where you'll get your regens from for example. "Based Nation" is where you play. So Cardiff City, nation: Wales Based Nation: England Edit: sorry I just typed all that out and realised I misread the date on your post. I thought it was 21/4, I now realise you asked two months ago and you've probably sorted now
Collymore Posted 27 April 2019 Posted 27 April 2019 Top of the table after 13 games and Ghezzal is the 2nd best player in the league
Collymore Posted 27 April 2019 Posted 27 April 2019 Just beat Watford 3-1 in the top of the table clash to go 3 points clear
stripeyfox Posted 29 April 2019 Posted 29 April 2019 I'm now in the 2022-23 season in my "hard" Brexit scenario. The World Cup has just taken place in December in Qatar so had no PL games from mid November until January which is a bit strange - sign of things to come. The Brexit situation is actually fine. Seems that a work permit can be issued to any player of any nationality providing they are earning at least £8000 a week, which obviously for a PL club is just about everyone, I even signed a North Korean forward! So in many ways, it is actually easier to sign non British players than it was before! My scouts still insist that players won't get work permits though!
Beliall Posted 3 May 2019 Posted 3 May 2019 I'm currenly creating a custom league database for FM and was wondering if anyone with photoshop skills would be able to make me a league badge for a fantasy sky bet league 3? I would really appreciate it. thank you
Fox92 Posted 6 May 2019 Posted 6 May 2019 Has anybody got that one team they never beat? I've just lost to Port Vale for the 3rd time across two seasons, the other two games were draws and they are the draws are my best results against them. I am top of the league, was 12 games unbeaten too, and they still beat me

Brainy Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 My Trayal save has became a bit boring, its literally a disappointment if we ever concede a shot on our goal anymore Another season won, another Serbian cup won, 70 odd goals and 6 conceded in 37 games. Probably our biggest summer ever though with a few players on their way out due to age but plenty of money to replace them with
