Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup game between Leicester City and Southampton has been postponed.

Both clubs, in conjunction with the relevant authorities, took the decision not to play the match in light of the helicopter crash outside King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The thoughts of all of us at Southampton Football Club remain with our colleagues at Leicester, the Srivaddhanaprabha family and everyone affected by the tragic incident.

Details of a rearranged date for the fourth-round game, as well as ticketing arrangements, are not available at this stage and will be released in due course.

I'm glad it's postponed out of respect for Vichai and his family. No way should any of us turn up for a match when we are grieving for a man who wanted nothing but the best for our football club.

Correct decision. I'd barely even thought about the games to be honest. I can see Cardiff away being off as well.

I don’t think any of our players will be in any fit state to play at the weekend either.

I dunno, time can't stand still and eventually the business has to move on. You never know, it might have the opposite effect.

Grief is strange, people process in many different ways, it could be something for them all to rally around and play for. Dedicate a performance to his memory.

Too early to say really.

We should definitely use the first home game back as a means to show our further support for Vichai and his family for everything they've done.

There’s many tickets left still for burnley I’m hoping they sell out

Can't see us playing Cardiff, think the players will not be mentally ready.

Of course the right decision to postpone tomorrow night but I think we should play at Cardiff. Then again it might come down to lack of preparation as I imagine the players will miss training for a few days at least. The Burnley game will be emotional.

An away game first might actually be best and we should use the squad - Ward for Schmeichel for example.  Who cares about the result.  Less memories for the players, Vichai was always in the dressing room and around the players before the game.  Burnley will be incredibly hard for everyone.

As tough as it is for the players and staff, life and business have to continue at some point so I would presume that the game on Saturday would go ahead, but who knows?

Cardiff should go ahead - playing can often be a release and I think the players might go out and really deliver a performance.

Tomorrow was too early but Saturday isn't - then Burnley at home can be a really emotional occasion where the fans can say goodbye.

I'm not sure about whether Cardiff should go ahead or not tbh. It will be ok for some players but not others.

I guess you will need to consider fitness too, as i doubt there will be much training done this week.

Its a tough call as life goes on and sometimes you need to get back to normality to move forward.

Completely agree Finn. I guess it will be up to the players as to what they want to do. They were uniquely close to him so I just worry that for players like Kasper Saturday might still be too soo.

I don't think fitness is an issue, potentially a lack of tactical preparation but even that should be no big difference.

The only unknown is the mental aspect. Can go one of two ways. The players use the mental pain to psyche themselves up and perform to do everything they can to honour this man. Or they suffer and are completely away from the game mentally and play poor. The likelihood is that certain players will deal with it better than others.

Cancelling tomorrow's game is sensible. I think Saturday might be enough for them to start getting back into the routine, it's their job at the end of the day and the sooner they get back into it the better. We may however see some random performances for a month or so.

Either way, and whatever the decision is, the fans are right behind them all the way. I think this will bring the club back together as over the last year and a half, things have not been as good as they have been. Hopefully this can align everyone again.

We should play Cardiff , Our chairman would love us to go out and play a storm in his memory , he would just love it , he played and lived life with a smile on his face we should celebrate his life now in a fitting and personal way , give everything

we chant and clap for 90 mins and the players give their alll for 90 mins and together we will support each other , Top and the family will get comfort at seeing their “football family” giving their all for the boss

we rise up and we honour this great man in a great way this weekend

I hope we play at Cardiff. I don’t care if we get thrashed 5-0, I think Vichai would want us to and therefore we should.

Do you know what? I actually think you're right. Any players who don't wish to play should obviously be listened to and be left out, but perhaps it would be fitting to play.

Who knows? Regardless of the decision the club makes, I will be happy with it since its obviously being considered at some length, and I would hope the FA and Cardiff would be supportive, whatever that request is.

We could lose every game this season 5-0 now. We absolutely must show heart and togetherness though, its what Vichai stood for and what we are all about.

Just read on the BBC that the players will be wearing black armbands at the Cardiff game, so it sounds like it's going ahead.

Having reviewed a number of BBC pieces on the subject over the last couple of days, I wouldn't put much stock in the accuracy of any of their editorial content.
