Reports that the stadium name might change to the Khun Vichai Stadium

I think it makes far more logical sense to name the new training ground after him, the stadium itself helps to promote King Power massively and it wouldn't be ultimately a smart business move to change that; emotions aside.

Top will know what to do.

Aye, and I think a huge part of the KP strategy is having King Power all over the world wherever the PL is shown. There will be plenty of room for sentiment but Top will know part of his father's vision was that alongside the community, family, warmth and generosity, there is a business empire to grow.

The training ground would be a great thing I think. And perhaps a stand at the ground, we could do with some more personalisation of the stands. Expand one of them and call that double decker the Khun Vichai stand.

The training ground seems too detached for me personally.

For me, it should be the ground or a stand. I know what people are saying about the training ground as that is his ‘baby’, but in 5 years people will be just calling it ‘The Training Ground’.

The only time it’ll be referred as the VS complex (or whatever), is when Sky Sports are there on transfer deadline day.

Again, for me, if nothing at the ground is changed and it is the training ground, then I cannot think of anyone better than Vichai to have a first statue of down Filbert Way.

Just my 2p.

I'm kinda the opposite, I think it should be the stadium or the training ground and a stand.

You’re on my wavelength.

I was typing too fast to explain myself properly.

I don’t have a problem with the with the training ground being named after him. However, if it’s that alone, for me it isn’t enough. It’ll soon revert to the training ground.

Something around the ground is more pertinent imho.

I have absolutely no doubt the training complex will be named in his honour though. I have no doubt the stadium won’t change its name either.

So I’ll happily accept a stand, training ground and a statue.

I still think renaming the road leading to stadium will be a guarantee of permanence as no future owners could change it.

Would also allow for some appropriate name plates maybe even make it treelined.

For me, keep it as the King Power Stadium. Name a stand and the new training ground in his memory. A road would be an added bonus.

Whatever happens, we will never forget him. We should tell our grandkids to tell their grandkids one day about him and his family.

I like this idea and would much prefer it to a statue. He bought the stadium back for the club. It seems fitting. It would also sound better than the current name and would reflect what is now part of the heritage of the club better than a corporate sponsorship name.

I got a bit of stick the other day for not being in favour of a statue. Just a personal thing but I think any statue (we are sadly

lacking one) should commemorate our biggest success and represent those who delivdred that on the pitch. I’d go woth Ranieri as manager, Morgan as captain, maybe King as longest servant and Vardy as top scorer.

But we ought to have a physical tribute of some sort to Vichai. A memorial for all those lost and a stadium named after a man who gave us, and the city, so much would be most appropriate in my view.

Think the King Power naming of the ground ensures we get income for the running of the club, which we wouldn’t receive if it was changed to the Chairman’s name. I think it’s important to keep it that way as I think you can’t spend more on transfers than your income, so keeping the King Power might be needed long term.

I really think the council should do something big. We know Top and Co will do something major like naming the training ground, or a stand, but we as a City need to give something big as a mark of respect.

Even renaming Filbert Way? Yes that is part of our history, but if you look at importance, Vichai wins hands down over anyone or anything in our history so we need to do something really big to honour him.

Definitely think the training ground should be named after him. Keep the stadium as it is as because it’s already named after his business. I’d say name a stand after him and have a memorial statue outside the ground for him and the others that was involved in the accident.

I think a statue would be better as it would be there for ever, as the stadium name could change in the future. Of course we've never had statue of any club legends which as surprised, would be great chance to start with Vichai. Perhaps create one with him holding the premier league trophy.

I said in an earlier post that they should rename raw dykes road, KUN VICHAI WAY

It’s already in his honour being called king power! The training ground should be named after him! The statue should be funded by supporters and the new stand should be named after him! I think it’s shameful nothing was done after the title win!

As someone else has mentioned, there are financial implications to changing the stadium name now.

Having the stadium named (sponsored) by King Power (the company) is a back-door way of injecting more money into the club by the owners.

If we struggle at any point with FFP, the sponsorship contract over the naming rights can be renewed and increased so that the King Power company gives the club a higher fee.

It’s a loophole that can be exploited to inject funds into the club.

Changing the name, and therefore ending that sponsorship deal, closes the loophole.

That’s my understanding of it anyway.

We could possibly also do the same with the new training ground, (calling it the King Power training ground), so I think a stand is the best option in this respect.

I also like the idea of the Khun Vichai Family Stand, I don’t know why, but it works.

He was King Power and his family still are.

I don't think he'd have approved of his brand name being removed.

I would have no issue with the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Stadium - the slightly tricky pronunciation of the surname should not be a barrier and it may become known as the VS Stadium.

Imagine Paul Merson attempting that one. He struggles with King Power
