Valentino Lazaro

Recommended Posts

“Particularly Everton and Leicester” – Two PL clubs keen on very highly rated player – €25-30m deal

Valentino Lazaro is a name likely to become more well known between now and the summer transfer window.

The 23 year old can, and does, play anywhere on the right hand side and that’s been useful for Hertha Berlin this season. Right back, right midfield, right attacking, Lazaro has two goals and four assists in 24 Bundesliga appearances in the current campaign.

Clubs are taking notice, with Everton and Leicester City said to be among them.

Napoli are interested, and that means so is the club’s local media.

CalcioNapoli24 have picked up comments journalist Raffaele Auriemma has given on radio about interest in the player and the pursuit of the Serie A club.

Auriemma explained: “Lazaro’s agent is talking to Napoli… The price is very high. Hertha Berlin asks for €30m, but for €25m you can take him away. There are Premier League clubs who follow him, particularly Everton and Leicester, who continually observe him during Hertha home games.”

There have been some links to English clubs recently, yet this for Everton and Leicester sounds like genuine interest. Given the story is a Napoli one, there’s no need to pluck the Toffees and Foxes from mid-air unless there’s something in it.

Lazaro is very highly rated, so the links could be good news for Everton and Leicester fans. In October of last year, German journalist Raphael Honigstein told the BBC: “He’s one of the reasons Hertha Berlin are in the mix for the Europa League places this season. He’s widely seen as the most talented player to come from Austria since David Alaba.

“He’s been an amazing signing already if you see his energy and adaptability to play in different positions. Some people have compared him to Willian in style – very direct but also skilful. This guy will go places. He looks like he can fit into many different shirts.”

Seems like we have turned into one of the better clubs to be linked with, basically if the players are not good enough for the top 6

Then “it looks like

Leicester

Everton

West Ham are interested”

if they are Portuguese then add wolves

'Plays anywhere on the right'. So yet another Jack of all trades, Master of none. It's alright to have some utility players but you need specialists to succeed. We don't need anymore.

I mean, Ricardo can play anywhere on the right...

Try reading it again,  I understand that and he can also play on the left by the way. We've got enough utility players though, I'll let you decide who they are, but to win anything you can't just rely on players who if you're short can 'do a job'. You need specialists like Vardy, Kane , Salah who excell in one position and make a difference and not just an average overall contribution. When we won the Premiership with a well balanced team we also had Vardy, Marhez and Kante and despite all the others magnificent contributions,  it was those three that made the difference. Just by losing Kante it arguably turned to rat shit.

He was impressive at RB Salzburg the 1/2 times I saw him and he looked destined for a bigger move than to Hertha.   If we do not sign Youri, he would be a good choice (although not as good as Tielemens).  So if he does not end up at Everton, WHam or Wolves, worth serious consideration by our Talent Spotting Gurus.

Sure, but if he's as highly rated as he is, he could still be a decent addition.

This is a bad example. The reason we haven't been able to kick on properly from our League championship is precisely this. Our adaptability has been utter shite. So has our desire to adapt, but that's another story.

A player with Lazaro's abilities overlapping with Ricardo would be every LBs nightmare.

As well as the obvious Tielemans style player we need I think a number 1 priority is a forward who is ready now or 1/2 yrs off being ready to take over from Vardy which are very big boots to fill. It's a big ask but we just don't need imo, any more 'make do's' or 'he can do a job' type players. We need a specialist striker, I'm not bothered whether he's adaptable to other positions or not,  just a 100% striker and nothing else like Vardy , Yakubu, Linekar , Dickov , Cottee etc, all different types I know and varying abilities but you get my drift. I think we're flogging a complete dead horse with Iheanacho unfortunately.

With the best will in the world, a right back come winger come midfielder is not going to bang in 20 goals a season,  even the extremely talented Marhez couldn't do that. Outside of Tielemans we need an out and out goalscorer to complement and eventually replace Vardy. With Ricardo , Albrighton , Gray and Gezzal,  that position is hardly a priority and it's throwing good money after bad and just collecting shiny things. When you put those players I mentioned together with  Maddison, Barnes and possibly Tielemans, we surely have enough players there now for Rodgers to hopefully get the best out of, we don't need yet another unproven young kid clogging up the squad in a position we have cover aplenty. Just my thoughts,  not for one minute saying I'm right but there will be a limit on spending.

If this was true and he was planning on playing this fella and Ricardo on the same side, I could totally see him doing the same on the left hand side with Chilwell and Tierney.

In a 442 that would provide players on each side both in the fullback and winger positions that could interchange as either player in that side are comfortable going forward AND defending.

And where will Maddison and Barnes play, our two most promising players?
