Dog insurance

Recommended Posts

So just got our new puppy, a rescued 6 month old sproodle who is lovely, and got to obviously buy some pet insurance.

Do any of you use pets at home at fosse park, is it a good service and price, or just a massive superstore with no personal service,

Previously used the park in whetstone and the one at broughton astley but now live in LE2 so looking for somewhere more local. Any advice recommendations appreciated

Go on compare the market for the best pet insurance deals. as it does with other insurances, it will give you a breakdown of whats included in your policies.

I don't recommend taking your dog to pets for less (or vets4less) for anything vet related. had a couple of very bad (and one near-fatal) experiences there with my dog. find a local independent vet. I'm in syston and use Kings Vets.

My dogs are insured with that Pet Plan one I think. Definitely get it ASAP. I had it, had to cancel it as I lived abroad for a while and a week later my dog started having seizures. I recon it would have saved me about £5k but instead I reactivated it and pay over £100 a month and pay for the blood tests and medication separately.....

I don’t have dog insurance and this poor little girl has just done her cruciate ...  will have to be operated on and pinned ...   not going to be cheap.

All the best and hope it turns out fine for you both ❤️

My boy did that 15 months ago, he has recovered pretty well and only has mild arthritis. He can still run, just nowhere near as quick. The bad news is it cost £3200.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just get a new dog?

Thanks mate.    She’s 4 ...   barely out of nappies ...    and she loves to run and run and run ...  will definitely slow her down but as long as she has quality life and no pain, I’ll be happy...

Glad to hear it.  Plenty would just say they can't afford it.

I hope it all goes well for her.

Our Malamute Codie has had a pair of new hips and all kinds of exploratory treatment.  MRIs, ultrasounds, x-rays, blood tests and I stopped counting when we got up to £25k (seriously!).  I would never have a dog without insurance.

We have Pet Plan and to be honest they're expensive but good and pretty good at paying out.  They don't mess you around so I would def recommend them.

Yeah, Code's OK, thanks, but he's getting on now.  We had a period of about 18 months when he was just in obvious discomfort and we didn't know why.  We saw every specialist going.  It's heartbreaking when they're not well.  I just wish they could talk!

Anyway, he's fine now and I hope your girl gets through this OK.  She should do but it's gonna hurt financially.

I know that you can't insure this condition but maybe you can still insure them for all other conditions?  Worth doing.  If Code wasn't insured I'd be sleeping on a park bench now.

Jesus Christ, I couldn't justify spending that on a pet. I'm not sure if I could do it for one of my children ?

I did ask if my kids could donate their cruciate to save money but apparently it’s not much of a saving.
