Imagine actually being against this lol

Like actually having the opinion that you want it to be stopped, I'd love to get inside some of these minds.

Just look at your stereotypical West Stand moaner. They genuinely turn up just to enjoy the misery of everyone else.

I can imagine how this can be seen as a bad thing.

I guess its hightly subjective as to what an 'anthem' is. Personally I find things like the liquidator, hi ho silver, glad all over and that Everton song a bit cringe, but its atmosphere at least, much better than a bunch of happy clappers making 'du du du' noises and pumping their arms to some uttery horrendous musical interlude.

I realise I'm in a minority here, but I just don't like WYS. In any version. Sorry if that offends people, but however much I try, I just can't force myself to like it.

You don't have to like it. I can't think of an anthem of any club that I do like but if its part of the clubs history and tradition then I'll blast it out. And it really does sound very good.

Our of interest, what would you prefer (or perhaps nothing) :dunno:

Well, at the risk of being laughed at, I've always wondered why we didn't choose something like Release Me instead. Yes it's a naff song, but it's no more naff than Delilah or Mull Of Kintyre. You've got the Leicester connection with Engelbert. There's also no mumbly preamble like with WYS. Bang! You're straight in singing with gusto. It's much more suited to the terraces than WYS imho. But what do I know? Too late now anyway.

Is this serious?

You want something unique, and WYS delivers that.

I swear most people who don't like it would probably suggest GLORY GLORY LEICESTER CITY as a viable alternative.

I really like it. I love singing it (at home admittedly!), and the fact the "the whole smiles with you" part is louder and as that finishes the whistle often goes. I don't remember it from when I was a kid and going to games. But I feel it fits well with us. When we won the league, we were smiling and the whole world was smiling with us.

What next? Return of the Mack?

I've re-thought it and based on the fact that half of the fans in the ground don't actually want to be there anyway 'please release me' is actually the perfect anthem for Leicester.

It's an unbelievable fit.

Lethargic supporter base mainly there out of habit and fear of losing access....check

Streams of fans releasing themselves from the game 10 minutes before half time in order to get shit food and drink...check

Streams of fans releasing themselves from the game up to 20 minutes before the final whistle...check

Get it sorted

More of an appropriate anthem for Rodgers and the relegation rats...

Please release me, let me go
For I don't love you anymore
To waste our lives would be a sin
Release me and let me love again

My only problem is, when the music cuts out, why does everybody fall silent and sit down, rather than belting out the last line?

Yeah thats a problem with our crowd in general, no energy or passion like other clubs when they sing their anthem. A good idea would be to play the instrumental version song and have the crowd sing the lyrics, rather than relying on the song to carry the vocals. That would create a better atmosphere.

Unfortunately, that's where the good idea and reality aren't going to work. There'd only be about 200 fans singing!

They don't, though. Sometimes we get the last line once, sometimes twice. Whichever, it ends with a huge cheer of encouragement as they kick off. Then it falls silent.

It can be fixed by starting 10 seconds earlier to get the second of the WWSWY in and then fade out to allow us sing the last Whole. World. Smiles. With. Youuuu without the PA. Then the big cheer and away we go.

We are capable of doing that last punctuated line as we manage it for the last line of JV's magic.... I. Wanner. Play. For. Leicester. The. Best. Team. In. The. Land.

I'm sure there is a way to get it ingrained into people's heads, maybe the club can put a pamphlet on every seat with the WYS lyrics, encouraging fans to memorise it and sing along. A couple months of this should do the job.
