The back stop solution isn't really much better especially when you consider Stormonts not even able to sit at present. As others have said, Boris himself slated it not long ago and now it's his magical solution. 

 

Don't think it will get through parliament myself and don't think Boris really wants it too. This is all clever positioning ready for a GE.

Did we have no rights before Europe? the rights that are already adopted in to UK law will continue as EU laws are due to be passed on mass in to UK law, future rights will be down tom the MPs, we elect to decide on and pass into law. At present with a hung parliament the is nothing stopping MP's passing what ever laws they deem fit after the 31st provided they can get the majority to agree as we saw with the surrender bill sorry Benn act, the assumption of remainers has been that those we elect aren't fit to run the country they could be right.

It does make chuckle how much some think the EU "stands up for peoples right"

 

Even if you ignore them doing over the Greeks, Italians and turning a blind eye to some brutal policing in France the Spanish government has just tossed people in prison this week for organising a vote and they haven't said a word.

 

Unless something is in it for them they couldn't give a flying **** about the people of Europe.

Who even actually stands up for people’s rights these days? Don’t think most countries or states can take that moral high ground.

Depressing stuff and the only thing that cheers me up these days is things like the Camden massive dragging middle class hippies off trains.

here's an 'interesting' thought

 

a general election could result in a govt which is able to drive a worse deal for Europe than this one. it might not but are they willing to take that chance ?

 

so when this deal is voted down on Saturday, boris has to write his letter ……….. if the Europeans don't want to take that risk then they simply reject any extension and then boris can bring the deal back for approval early next week and the HOC has to support it as the alternative is their dreaded 'no deal'. 

 

you need to remember that the Europeans are scared rigid of no deal. they can accept us leaving as they believe the political landscape will change at some point in the future and we will request re admittance

 

EDIT: I see @The Guvnor already mooted this on the previous page …..

85 days all in to bring it back.

 

Not bad for someone who didn't want a deal going up against an organisation that had guaranteed not to reopen the withdrawal agreement.

 

Just a shame we couldn't have taken it right down to the wire and see what extra concessions we could have had.

Exactly, regardless of the end result, you've got to admire him somewhat.

 

Not read much about the deal yet, will have a gander tonight. It can't be any worse than TMs. I think this will probably get through, it all could hinge on the DUP though.

Kay’s got her wires crossed here

 

Essentially he said no need to prolong beyond 31st October as we have a deal 

 

Of course that doesn’t answer what will happen if either party fails to ratify the agreement

I am not someone that gets too involved in political detail, nor do I really care about politics/politicians (it's just one big lie, yes, there are some good guys in there but very hard to pick them out). Anyway, this is what could happen:

 

1) This deal is agreed - Maybe not ideal but the country is suffocating under the unknown, Leave voters are getting more and more p1ssed and will be happy with any deal.

2) Deal is rejected and EU refuses - No deal scenario, this is worst case scenario surely?

3) Deal is rejected and EU allows extension - This must surely result in a GE.

4) GE results in a win for someone that wants to revoke article 50 - 17.4m people royally p1ssed off, mass escalations/protests, country goes down the sh1tter in real style. Avoid at all costs.

5) GE results in same government - Same deal is tossed about, another 3+ months are wasted, we end up with 1) or a variation of.

 

I cannot see us get anything better than what the deal is now. I think this is a s good as it'll get. It's a bit like playing in a casino where the longer you try to chase your losses, the heavier your losses get. Cash out while you can and take damage limitation.

 

Let's not forget that the unknown is causing a lot of issues in the economy. People are not really committing to house buying/selling, buying this that and the other. Everyone is hesitant and awaiting a final Brexit outcome. Let's get it done with minimum fuss and all move on and try to become a country again.

 

FYI - I am neither Leave nor Remain as I am not a UK citizen and so had no choice to vote. Fairly neutral view on this as such. I would rather the UK would have remained as we knew what we were getting but I am also one to respect what the majority of UK voters voted for, and I think this is important in a democracy. As always, it was on the basis of ill advice from lying politicians but hey, what can you do. If I didn't agree then I should really be moving elsewhere.

Like him or not, he is very clever at what he's doing. Very strange, but very clever. And let's not kid ourselves, the majority of MP's are just as corrupt/full of lies as each other. Maybe if there were some credible contenders, would Boris find a real battle to stay where he is.

MPs have voted in favour of an amendment that will allow for a longer debate and for MPs to table amendments on Saturday if the House were to sit.

 

They voted 287 votes to 275.

It's worth getting it through just to see the reaction of the peoples vote marchers. Will be some hilarious videos about anyway but that will tip a lot of them over the edge.

 

Imagine Caroline Lucas, crusties being dragged off the tube and Brexit in one week? I can see her pooing on the green benches and rubbing it on herself in protest.
