25 man squad named

Our squad has been named for the season ahead, interestingly the squad includes both Slimani and Silva, this realistically taking us down to a 23 man squad - with 3 of those goalkeepers.

Matty James possibly the most notable omission, signalling he won’t play at all this season, especially when you consider he’s been left out for a player who is on loan at Monaco for the season.

 

Any thoughts

It means he has until January to get fit and get match fit before trying push his way into the 25.

Out of interest if Vardy or a midfielder got a serious injury. Could we recall slim or silva and they come straight in and play or would we need to wait till Jan?

In theory we should be able to. But it depends on the terms of his loan. Sometimes there isn't a call-back option

Not so long ago it was common practice in England to have three forenames - this was a time when older family members names were kept for respect. 

 

Can't understand why Slim and silva are in the squad when they can't play and a new squad can be named in January.

He came through the Man City academy, but seems odd to be able to be listed as counting as English home-grown but able to represent Denmark at International level!

Cesc Fabregas counted as home-grown too - the rule is just that a player needs to be registered to an English/Welsh club for 3 years between the ages of 16 and 21 for them to count as HG.

 

The rule is not about being 'English home-grown' nor is it directly aimed at supporting the English national team - it's more to protect and increase the importance of PL and EFL academies in developing players of any nationality.

Meh, same applies to Wes Morgan. He's as English as they come, grew up in Nottingham but plays international football for Jamaica. And in the same way Kasper speaks the Queen's with a Mancunian twang, you don't tend to catch Wes slipping into Patois.

It's like Fabregas was classed as homegrown, its based on how many years you've played in that country.

Muzzy was home grown but played for Turkey. Not at all uncommon.
