irishfoxkev Posted 21 September 2019 Posted 21 September 2019 Raised this question last season....Would Vardy’s record of scoring in 11 consecutive premier league matches be matched or bettered ? Looks under threat this season already with Aguero scoring in first six this season, the first player to achieve this. Think he also scored in their last game last season so technically he has 7 goals in 7 consecutive games....Given the number of chances Man City create he could be the one to do it sadly
HybridFox Posted 21 September 2019 Posted 21 September 2019 Records are there to be broken. But the fact of the matter is Vardy did it first. And given the circumstances, history will never forget that

Flamey Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 I picked up on this from motd commentary, after checking man city's upcoming fixtures it does look a possibility, but as wigstonwanderer said theres a long way to go yet.
Yes N'Didi Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 Also don’t forget Peps ability to rotate at will and suddenly drop players for no reason.

Pep loves benching his best players
coolhandfox Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 His got to double that to beat it, long way to go.
Fox92 Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 Still a long way to go. I remember when they were talking about Lukaku as he hit 7 or 8 in a row for Everton.

Blue ROI Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 Not too bothered if someone else beats it soon or not. Vardy's run was a great part of our story. After he scored against Man U I felt that it would be as good as it got for that season. Whatever happens nothing will take from the buzz of that season.

AKCJ Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 I noticed them saying that on MOTD. I reckon he'll do it to be honest. But Vardy will still have the record of doing it in the same season.

People hungover this morning?

Guest ttfn Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 It’s still really unlikely at this point - assuming you give Aguero a 60% chance of scoring in any given game (which I’d have thought is about right), he’s still only got a 1 in 8 chance of matching it or a 1 in 13 chance of breaking it. To put it another way, scoring in 7 straight matches is so impressive they mentioned it on MOTD. To break the record he’s got to do the best part of the same thing again, consecutively, with no room for error.

Aston Villa - home 12. Southampton - home 13. Liverpool - away
Guest ttfn Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 The “record” Vardy broke belonged previously to van Nistelrooy who did it over 2 seasons. Last season’s goal by Aguero would count.

AyewJoking Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 Calm down guys. All i have to do is put aguero in my fantasy team and he will immediately hit a goal drought.
Innovindil Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 Would be a shame to see Vardy lose the record, but if it went to aguero I don't even think I'd be that mad. He's quality.
AyewJoking Posted 22 September 2019 Posted 22 September 2019 Im gonna do it right now. Jamie, with your next goal, thank me by doing a quick thumbs up.
