I agree and should have said "Corbyn's Labour...", which is what I meant.

Why I think it is worse coming from Labour is because they are supposed to be "For the people". And that is part of why people felt so alienated by them, but had the self respect not to be coerced into voting for them.

And there is so much ego going on, in the aftermath of the election result, protesting what was a democratic process. That again reflects what is more important to them, instead of being magnanimous after losing and looking at what went wrong,

Absolutely, it does sort of remind you of Mourinho when everything goes tits up at one the clubs he's managed and he's still adamant that he's the messiah and all the fans are on side etc. Just waiting for Corbyn to shave his head and start living in a hotel.

I do feel a little sorry for Corbyn, in that he's a principled man of sorts and a commendable politician, if not leader. However I have no sympathy for some of his rabble and the Momentum lot. People like Bastani who think they are a voice of the people will continue to dig a greater hole.

Started from a low ebb of course, but an extraordinary statistic - the Tories have now increased their vote share in six consecutive elections.

Not bad for a party whose vote is often said to be dying off.

That's all due to the hard work and efforts you put in for the conservative party.  I hope they have rewarded you well.

@MattP is a member of the privileged liberal elite.

I saw him slagging Jarvis Cocker the other day for swanning around between London and Paris.

Yet he has revealed that he's planning to holiday in Sri Lanka, when he could be in Blyth Valley helping poor downtrodden Tory voters to rebuild their infrastructure, which was destroyed by the Labour Govt.

Matt is just another closet socialist sell-out who luxuriates in his privilege while telling salt-of-the-earth working men like you and me how to run our lives.

He's just Lily Allen, Greta Thunberg or Emma Thompson in male drag. It's people like him that racist populists like you and me need to be fighting.

Matt P has stolen my childhood.

What is the problem with requiring photo ID to vote? The headline says it will disadvantage poor people, but it even says in the article that the government will provide a free document to people who can't afford a driving licence or passport.

As long as they do provide it (which is by no means a certainty as they mess a lot of stuff up) but if they do, I don't understand the problem. But maybe I'm missing something?

Don't think I agree with removing the 15 year limit on ex-pats though. With things like this whoever's in power always tries to swing it to their advantage. It's why New Labour liked high immigration. They're all as bad as each other.

Don't like Johnson, didn't vote for him, but I like the idea of ID for voting.

There needs to be some groundwork though. There will be a proportion of society who don't drive and don't holiday abroad, and because of that will likely not have any ID, and they shouldn't be stopped from voting if they that's the case. Maybe it's time for ID cards.

"The Brexit Storm" documentary from Tuesday on the BBC is well worth a watch - covers the last six months inside Westminster.

I know it's a cliché about the Westminster bubble but it's so true - almost everyone inside of it bar a few thought Boris was a clown and he had blown it with his actions, remainers generally felt all they had to do was get past October 31st and they had won. Dominic Cummings even told the opposition what he was going to do in advance - get out of London and talk to people who aren't rich remainers.

One of the great quotes "Boris was always going to a politician who was either Prime Minister for ten weeks or ten years"

Was looking at the city seats earlier, didn't realise two of them had such reduced majorities

Leicester West - 11,060 down to 4,212 (-8.7% swing)

Leicester East - 22,428 down to 6,019 (-15.3% swing - wow!)

Leicester South though only moved slightly down to a 22,675 majority (-3.35% swing) - maybe that's because people agreed with Jon Ashworth's negative view on Corbyn!

I know you have a particular dislike of the current opposition, and with good reason in the most part, but are you happy with them having such a large majority? Do you not think that, for the current system to work, there needs to be less disparity for the opposition to hold the Government to account, or at least try to?

I was only a very young kid under Blair's early years so, aside from what I've learnt from reading about it, I've not got any particular life experience from what it was like when the boot was on the other foot.

Given that Opinium ended up most accurate, I thought I'd stick their earlier poll that gave a 19 point lead (not that it means that poll was accurate) into both the current and the new boundaries.

Current: Maj 220

Con 435

Lab 139

New: Maj 256

Con 429

Lab 106

Maybe that would have been enough for some introspection from the Labour leadership rather than just blaming the media

Important to state not a single one of their applications will be accepted as well.

Part of the hope of a big majority was assuming the people in Labour would realise how disastrous not only current policy is, but how unpopular they'll be whilst the hard left has control of the party.

Unfortunately this doesn't appear it will happen, they period of reflection is now a period of absolving blame from Jeremy Corbyn.

All well and good for a couple of high-ranked recognisable members of those groups, how are you going to spot loose affliates or the footsoldiers entering? Neither side could screen Holocaust deniers and racists for seat candidates ffs.

With how you've criticised other side I think you need to hold your hand up here mate.
