Love the fact you put Notts County in there twice (albeit one with a capital 'C' and one with a lower case) to make the point!

I’m not going to piss on decent football fans for sticking with their local sides during shitty times. Good on them.

I’d rather take the piss out of those of you snuggled up in your Man Utd pyjamas while a handful of us went to Hartlepools on a rain-soaked Tuesday night. Funny how busy the forum is these days - I wonder why?

Are you really gate keeping supporting Leicester City?

Suggesting that you can only be a real fan if you went to a game in the Johnstone paint trophy round 1 - northern section!

Why would anyone posting on this forum be wearing Man Utd pyjamas?

Freezing Tuesday night, Old Den February 1985 Fifth Round FA Cup - lost 2 nil. Kettled by the police in the ground, who promptly ****ed off when they eventually opened the gates at the Ilderton Road end, where the Bushwhackers were lying in wait. I remember running blindly through the back alleys of New Cross and crawling under a Commer van for refuge where I lay in the rapidly freezing slush for what seemed like an hour. No internet, no football forums back then.

"I remember running on to the pitch at the Den when I was a youngster with Leicester in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The place resembled a huge trap, and the venom that hit us from the Millwall fans was unbelievable. I remember thinking to myself, maybe it would be a good idea not to score at this place!" Gary Lineker.

Was there that night. Could never work out why the police escort from New Cross station to the ground took us past numerous pubs full of baying Millwall fans, yet the return trip without police escort was at least 15 minutes shorter with no pubs on the way!

I suspect this won't be a popular suggestion, and some of you have already said that Forest & Derby have been rubbish throughout your entire lives, but the reason I don't like them is that for long periods of my childhood and youth, both clubs had teams that were better than us, and winning stuff.

Not only that but local telly coverage fapped off regularly over them and only mentioned us briefly at the end.

In particular, Brian Clough's achievements bear admiration, even if you don't like Forest and Derby, now that those achievements belong in ancient history and are never likely to be repeated.

Leicester City have been the ones to admire for the last 5 years.  Long may it continue.

I think the salivating in here over a possible cup match with Cov really underlines that we'd like some local rivals to get promoted so we can play them regularly again (and beat them  of course).

I kinda get the rivalry bit, i was after all around when we played forest/derby on a regular basis and there certainly was a fierce local rivalry.  That said, i was actually really pleased for forest when they won the European cup. I like many am a fox first, then if we are not involved, i will root for any other "local" team, and despite the fact that Man utd, Arsenal Liverpool, man city etc have all their plastic fans and i am loving the fact that we, (and wolves and SHU) are upsetting their little cartel this season, i would still rather they beat some team from Italy or Spain etc in the CL/Europa.

I am blue through and through but that does not stop me rooting for other teams under the right circumstances

Because when we were in the second and third tier we had plenty of "fans" wearing Premier team tops.

Gatekeeping? No, I just have precious little time for the flood of supporters the club gained when we suddenly weren't dogshite.

That literally the definition of gate keeping.

Would you prefer we were still shite?

Said it before and I’ll say it again.

I feel sorry for Coventry. They’ve seen a long, sorry decline over many years because the club is run by litigious, intransigent crooks masquerading as a hedge fund.

They currently haven’t got a home, barely anyone goes to watch them anymore and the relationship between owners, fans and the city has become completely toxic.

Rival or not, it’s sad to see a once proud institution just fvcked into the ground. Had things gone differently for us, we could’ve ended up in a similar situation.

Forest and Derby? Don’t care. They’ve got each other for company.

I’ve no intention of perpetuating a debate over fictional definitions or false propositions.

OK then.

So out of interest, why bother posting a forum where the only form of communication is debate over people's fictional propositions?

I was there as well. Travelled from North London on the tube and via British Rail going through places where I had never been. Kept my head down and scarf safely tucked in.

i was one of the first Leicester fans in the ground. We were penned in like sheep.

As far as the match was concerned we played well but we didn’t take our chances. John Fashanu was one of their scorers as they won 2-0. Part of me was almost relieved that we had lost- at least their fans would be happy. At the end of the game they celebrated by invading the pitch and heading towards our end. Thankfully the six foot high fencing provided a barrier.

In the next round Millwall played Luton at Kenilworth Road. Their fans invaded the pitch and ripped up the seats in the stands.

I don’t communicate, I dictate. It’s the thing I’m best at. I won an award for it at school. I’m in the top ten of 2016’s People To Watch list compiled by Dictators Monthly. I see your fictional proposition and I run over it in a tank made from knives and pointy teeth. Then I laugh and drive over any nearby pets.

Blimey...

Maybe it's just me (kinda doubt it though), but when Forest won the European Cup it was one of the darkest nights of my young life.

I hated it.

I also didn't like it at all when Man Utd became the first English club to do it.

I take absolutely no pleasure in other English clubs achieving great things.

Unpatriotic? Don't think so. It's just that my nation is called Leicester City.

Yeah as I said I get it, and I have no love for the trees or sheep etc but I just enjoy watching football and enjoy it better when I have one team to root for. That said, I have been known to swap allegiances mid match if it makes for a more entertaining game

Social media, yes.

Radio, no.

Stuart Pearce calls them Notts Forest on TV/radio all the time which is wonderful.

I’ve never understood why they don’t like being called Notts Forest. They’re from Nottingham and Notts is simple why of referring to Nottingham. People from Nottingham regularly refer to Nottingham as Notts. Weird bunch.

Yes well it's human nature to want one team or another to win any game you're watching as a neutral  - It's just that I don't get the commonly stated opinion that you should support the English team if they're playing foreign opposition, just because they're English.

There's often too much history of enmity or whatever to buy into that narrative.

Certainly in Forest's case.
