Can't blame him for backing himself when the Chelsea opportunity came up, but for whatever reason it just hasn't worked out. He won't have a future there, or at any top English club. Could probably do a good job for a mid-table premier league team though if he regains his fitness and can get his life back on track off the pitch.

Sadly, he did absolutely nothing for Burnley or Villa, both mid to lower Premier League teams.

Championship at best now I'm afraid.

Some real 'sliding doors' moments after we won the league.

I wonder what would have happened if Danny had stayed and Vardy had gone to Arsenal...

Needs to go and see Uncle Nige at Bristol next season.

He could do worse, if Nigel is still at Bristol City next season - but he was only appointed to the end of the season, I think?

I remember NP being asked about any tricky man management issues at LCFC a few years back (don't remember precise question asked).

He spontaneously replied that Drinkwater was "an interesting character" or a "complex character" or some similar euphemism.....and that was long before DD had problems elsewhere, as I recall.

If both parties were interested and NP was still there, it could be the right move and right level for DD - Championship club rebuilding & looking to challenge for promotion.

He'd struggle to force his way into a PL team for now, I think. Whereas, if it worked out well for him at upper Championship level, he might yet earn PL opportunities.

On OTIB they are trying to convince themselves that our old dream team of NFP, Shakey and Walsh are reforming at Bristol Sport FC. Even suggestions of Powell and Stowell heading westwards.

The fact that Walsh was a disaster at Everton is irrelevant (which it probably is) but, they say, that LCFC is a similar club to them. Not sure what measure they are using.

I saw an interview that NP did after they lost the other weekend and he was fuming. Openly calling out the players' commitment and hinting he had a tough decision to make whether he'd even stay on if offered. It's a massive job for him there, as big if not bigger clear out needed than us when we went down.

Find it strange he gets much less slack on here than the other immortals. Shame.

Whilst he was and will always be a legend in my eyes... i never believed he liked us as fans or a club.
