Voll Blau Posted 19 March 2020 Posted 19 March 2020 Independents and small businesses need our support, where we are able to give it, more than ever now. To that end, thought it might be decent to open a thread listing city and county shops, pubs, restaurants etc which have launched new initiatives to help them get through coronavirus. Don't want to be all preachy, but if you are lucky enough to have money to spend on luxuries then please consider getting involved. I'll get the ball rolling: Blue Boar and Ale Stone in Leicester offering takeaway beer (mentioned already in one of the pubs threads) Ascough's restaurant in Harborough introducing a delivery service
Voll Blau Posted 19 March 2020 Author Posted 19 March 2020 Beerhouse (also in Harborough) doing takeaway beer https://www.facebook.com/beerhouseuk/photos/a.1510054942540670/2653269504885869/?type=3 Obviously feel free to extend this to other outlying areas with decent City-supporting bases.
Bayfox Posted 19 March 2020 Posted 19 March 2020 Can we also name and shame any local independent shops that are rinsing loyal customers by hiking prices of bog roll, hand soaps etc. Luckily so far my village shop has been sound but I've seen some right ***** taking the piss.

With all due respect lads, it is important that these sort of things are brought up but could it not go in another thread? Otherwise this one will just become clogged up with people having a moan?
deejdeej Posted 19 March 2020 Posted 19 March 2020 Great idea for a thread! Takeaway beer from the blue boar sounds like a good idea this weekend.
Parafox Posted 19 March 2020 Posted 19 March 2020 This is a good thing. Maybe, when this thing is over, these pubs and restaurants etc will continue to offer home deliveries to those that are housebound with disabilities or long term illnesses so they too can enjoy decent quality draught/alternative ales and gastro-pub style food.

I think they weren’t allowed to before - I read that the government just amended the planning permission rules to allow all of them to do deliveries. Depends if the rules get changed back after all this is over (hope not)

Ian Norman Droid Posted 7 April 2020 Posted 7 April 2020 Charnwood Brewery provided me with ales earlier today, I set up deliveries with the wonky veg company a couple of weeks ago (not sure if they've still go spaces or not) and I've been told about Brookes Butchers in Loughborough that do deliveries. I'm not sure if it was one night only or a regular thing but there's a pizza company - Raphael's Wood Fired Pizza - that was selling boxes of dough, sauce, cheese etc so you could make their pizzas at home DIY style.
