So I’ve read, Harris is not popular. The Dems need someone else in 2024 to take on Trump, who I think needs another electoral defeat before the Republicans even consider change.

She’s really not.  It would be an uphill battle.

Two other issues.  First, California.  No one other than Californias look at that state as a shining example of anything other than a mess.  That would be held against her.

Finally, she was tough on crime.  Locked up a record number of minorities.  How do you think that would be addressed by her competition?

Democrats desperately need to find someone.  They know it.  You can tell they are still scared of Trump, by how much they still attack him.  If he wasnt a threat, they would have no reason to continue disparaging him.  It’s gonna be scary, that’s for sure.

As I said - Michelle Obama.  She would get my vote.

Perhaps Booker might be worth more consideration this time round, then.

Edit: I think Michelle Obama would be a decent shout too but I wonder if she'd be in any way interested.

To be fair, I’m scared of Trump even if he doesn’t turn out to be favourite. For two or three years he felt like a phase that America had to go through. Toward the end and with the refusal to accept defeat and the capitol riot he became outright dangerous for both the country and the world. Even a small chance of victory for his ticket would be scary.

Basically the right wing equivalent of how I felt about Corbyn over here. Only with greater international consequences.

In the paper today they mention a survey conducted by JL Partners where they asked over 2000 members of the public to sum up members of the Royal family in one word ...   so ..  here's the most popular answers and you've got to work out which of these four (The Queen, Harry, Meghan and the Grand old Duke of York) they are talking about ..

1. Idiot, stupid, spoilt, ginger.

2. Manipulative, American and actress.

3. Amazing, wonderful and Regal.

4. Paedophile, disgrace, pervert, liar.

I know, I know ...  a bit of a toughie ! ...    I'll give the answers tomorrow ...     :)

I wonder just how much Tucker knows about K-Pop fans and how obsessive they can be. And how badly they take criticism of their "idols".

This may have been something of a mistake alongside the casual-disregard-of-racism-because-Fox-News-talking-head that he's well known for anyway.

Given this was the verdict, wonder if anything said in her defence is now viewed as perjury?

Will she be able to appeal?

Bad as she looked during the trial, it’s probably best if she find a way to pay Depp and then quietly disappear for a while.

Thank God's that all over. The damage of this trial will ripple through society for a generation. Two heavily traumatised people in a terrible relationship was never going to end well. The only true winners are the lawyers.

Will it? I'd actually forgotten about it again until the verdict was announced.

The UK case wasn’t against Amber Heard but The Sun newspaper for the claim that Depp was a wife beater. The judge (whose son worked for News International at the time of the case, with Dan Woottan who wrote the headline BTW) ruled against Depp on several grounds but one of them was based on Heard’s “good character” and the fact she donated her entire divorce settlement to charity proved she wasn’t a gold digger. Depp wasn’t allowed to use a lot of the evidence he did in this case…

So, given that it’s proven that she lied about donating the money, she could face perjury charges in the UK AND the USA. Meanwhile she’s already facing perjury charges in Australia over the dog debacle which she lied about and coerced her staff to lie about too.

On top of that Australia apparently has a law specific to using glass as a weapon, so she could be charged with that too.

She’s in for a very rough legal ride around the world. As is her sister and friends.

Illegal to secretly video someone in Australia without their permission - apparently.

In California too, which is where she recorded that video of him assaulting cabinets  which she then edited and sold to TMZ…

The Transport Secretary has rejected a request by the aviation industry to allow them to recruit workers from overseas, aviation insiders have told the BBC.

Companies asked for special immigration visas for overseas workers at a meeting with Grant Shapps on Wednesday.

...

After sacking tens of thousands of people through covid. **** off idiots. You want the staff back, you'll have to show them some respect, and a big pay rise I'd imagine!

Agree and hopefully it goes for all industries, those that survived covid survived due to their staff in the main so start treating with respect and fairness.

To add we should not be fast tracking any individuals that will be working airside at any airport, there needs to be proper checks done despite the chaos.

She hasn't lost the right to speak freely and openly.

She's always had that, still does, and always will.

She just never had and never will have the right or control to avoid consequence of what she says.

It also doesn't erase the power for other women to speak up. It's not fair for her to assume that just because she spoke up that it would be an easy case for her to win. Maybe she should invest in better lawyers next time.

kind of ironic she issues a post complaining about  freedom of speech and then disabled the option for people to comment on it…
