We will never win the league again, not in my lifetime. The only possible glories are a run in the CL and possibly the FA Cup.

to throw away not only their chance of CL football, but also ours, in such a weak, pathetic and frankly embarrassing way, is beyond words.

And yet, following Leicester since the late 70’s, I’ve come to expect it. Sad really, but I told  my son before the game that we’d lose this. It is the Leicester thing to do. Perhaps it’s why we detest Spurs so much, because ultimately they are a reflection of our own frailties. We had the bottle once. I hope we find it once more before I shuffle off.

Last time I was this depressed after a loss was when we lost 4-3 at Wolves after being 3-0 up. Inexcusable and I bet at the end we fall short by a point or two - and it’ll set us back a decade. If we miss Champions League now, we won’t be able to retain or players let alone bring in what we need to improve - the implications of this loss are enormous, and I don’t think it’s sunk in how devastating this could be yet.

It's funny how the 2 most common games people are bringing up are the 2 that actually kick started us going on to our best ever season. League One gave us the kick up the arse after years of mediocre/awful championship football and after the Deeney goal well...

Deeney Day forced us to change our ways. We sent back underperforming, uninterested loan players like Keane and Kane, decided Vardy and Drinkwater were to run the show. Crucially we ground out wins in the early part of the season before becoming more expansive and dominant as confidence grew. We reacted well to pretty much every defeat.

How many results have this team ground out this season?

The relegation I felt like it was a new dawn, and it’d been inevitable for so long. The Deeney goal there was a sense of pride at how well the lads had done, they put in the effort.

Today was unforgivable from everyone. Every single player, the manager, top to bottom - unforgivable.

Whilst being stunned makes sense, I have a feeling you'll look back on this and think you were being over dramatic comparing it to being relegated to League 1.

No not for me. I have had time to chill out over earlier but I’m still disgusted.
I felt all season in 07/08 we were in major trouble, we fought hard, we wernt good enough. I was annoyed we bottled it at home vs Sheffield Wednesday the week before but ultimately we wernt good enough.

We played really well vs Stoke, fought like men for the shirt and came up short. It was incredibly sad but I was proud. This is far worse.

The feeling I had today is like working hard for a year and then sticking your entire yearly wage on red on a roulette wheel and it coming black. Absolute waste of all the hard work! At least let Bournemouth beat us, show we’re not good enough ! Don’t just give away CL football.

I was that ashamed I honestly thought they had been paid off to throw the game. I cannot believe they could be so asinine and therefore it is worse than relegation to league 1.

I know we joke about Spurs, but they were leading for about 7 minutes, yet they were blasted as bottlers on here and still are.

We were FIFTEEN points clear and we've blown it. WE are the bottlers.

The worst insult I can think of to call any team (or anything ftm) is Spursy. We ARE Spursy.

Someone on this board said as much after Christmas and I was appalled, but in the most horrible and upsetting way, today they've been proved right.

Sad thing is Vardy Nacho and Perez were all fantastic first half. Along with Ndidi and Tielemens we played very well I thought.

My blame today goes on 3 people.

Brendan, Caglar and Kasper.

First to Kasper. This has completely changed potentially the next decade of our history. If this don’t happen, we don’t lose. Simple as that. We can go nuts at him for a stupid idiotic error but he’s been great for us in general this year and it’s a freak mistake but just at such a huge time!

Next Caglar, absolutely shocking defending. Running away from the threat. So so bad. Get into him when he closes in that close. I know Evans lost a big header but Solanki is never scoring from there if you close him quick as he’s not scored a goal in 38 prem games for god sakes! Then out of frustration gives us no chance to get back into the game!

whilst there’s no doubt Kasper mistake started the domino effect, at 1-1 20 left, we’d of composed ourselves and been ok for a draw at least (and had 11 to fight a winner) if it wasn’t for this awful minute from him. Just lost his entire head.

Now Brendan, this isn’t hindsight. We played great first half, Bournemouth were awful but we played well, pressed high and won our battles. YT and Ndidi dominated. Our front 3 looked dangerous. We should of been winning by more but overall half job done.

So, why the **** does he take off nacho and bring on Praet!! He needs to man up. Howe put on 2 midfielders in Stanislas and billing to change things and go for it, any moron knows if we leave our attack as it is, they would get killed on the counter!! So what does he do? Bring an extra midfielder on because he fears lowly  Bournemouth and invites so much pressure on and Isolates JV and Perez! Absolute mis management at the highest order.

Whilst we can’t blame Rodgers for what ultimately happened as it was still 0-1 before the above players cost us, BR has completely changed everything that was good, to turning us into scared puppy’s.

He obviously thinks every team beginning with B is Barcelona as he plays 2 DMs at home again Brighton and then he sets up to soak

Up pressure from  a team who were all but relegated and gets slammed by 4.

Now I’ve never in this run once wanted him sacked. He’s a likeable guy on a big wage and has a good reputation, but my god has he cost us recently with imo very very poor judgements, that you can see before they happen. I’m starting to doubt he’s the man to lead us forward. He plays a passing game but his tactics and substitutions are very respectful of really weak teams and I believe he’s holding us back.

Giving him a bumper new contract before the job was even near finished was a huge huge mistake !

We are in a mess now, this continues to feel more and more like 00/01 and it’s such a shame that such a good season is now an utter disaster.

If Man City’s ban is not upheld then we really will struggle to live this down, because this team is talented but some poor tactics, poor miss management, stupid errors have cost us big time. An average Chelsea team showing average form are not better than us but havnt dropped there levels and made stupid mistakes.

If we lost to Sheffield how they did, I’d be content - deserved not good enough etc, today isn’t the case. We have thrown away the gift we got given!

We got given a gift by West Ham we refused, we got given a gift by shef Utd , we refused. It will take very long for me to remember this season with any fondness now!

I’ve never ever said this before but I honestly think what’s the point anymore.

What’s the point of following every single game, working out everything and the situation and getting prepared for weeks and weeks and spending £100s on tickets all to throw away an entire season, maybe an entire decade of progress in 2 mins.

Im absolutely stunned. I’m not being over dramatic when I say this but I can hand on heart say, I’m more angry and fuming now than when we got relegated to league 1.

This is the worst day in our history(certainly since I’ve been following in 2002). Never been so angry!

That’s football.

If your talking to me seeing as I’m making the claims today we way worse then yeah I did, I saw every bastard game.

I even was at the game where we were at our lowest point in our entire history.

I was at Brighton in 2008 when we threw away a 2-0 lead at HT to lose 3-2.

Brighton were league 1 relegation fodder playing in their tinpot old ground, Fryatt scores 2. We capitulate and lose 3-2, including a 2-2 equaliser in the 90th minute and a Jack Hobbs og in 90+4!

We dropped to around 10th in league 1(our lowest ever position in our history) and I witnessed it all.

I walked home thinking ‘will I ever see us play in the premier league in my lifetime?’ (I was 19).

Now they were much worse times in general, but this feels worse.

Wasted, thrown away, underachieving, Gutless disgusting, mistake after mistake after mistake.

Not good enough ? Fine. Try hard but fail? Fine.

Throw away a years hard work by pure stupidity? Get out of here!!

This is why this is the worst moment in our history and has tarnished every little bit good about this season!

JV hold your head up, he was fantastic again and I hope he gets his golden boot because he has stuck by us with a sh*t heap of a gutless team. I can’t imagine what he was thinking up the pitch watching on! Outrageously bad.

I'm not one to go against Brendan here on the basis of this highly unforeseen result (despite our well documented woeful Premier League track record at Bournemouth of course) but as you say his decision to bring off Nacho at half time for Praet was a very bewildering one, unless Nacho was carrying an injury or something? THe rest as they say is history - and let us hope it doesn't repeat and that Man. Utd slip up tomorrow too in this weekend's batch of games when least expected - just like we and Chelsea did!

There was no injury. BR said after the game it was tactical and he thought Iheanacho wasn't having the best game.

Stoke away, 4th May 2008 was the worst 2 minutes for this club.

There were other points as well that class as a more worrying time for this club - like when it was conceivable it would go out of existence.

Yes tonight will feel raw. A lot of stick will come our way from fans of other clubs. And it’s natural to feel embarrassed by a performance like that.

But we do need to try and maintain a sense of perspective - we’ve been truly spoiled in terms of footballing success over the last 10 years, the club has come on in leaps and bounds and still has a fantastic future regardless of what happens over the next three games and even next season.

Yes - there is understandably a lot of anger and frustration on these boards, but just pause for reflection and consider the age old truth that sometimes a monumental setback can make a team stronger in the long run.

..they haven't got it in them!!!

Agree with everything you say, but the title of the thread is ludicrous.

Given what was at stake (champions league and the unlimited riches of), how comfortable we were against a team who were resigned to their fate and the manner of what happened, i can't recall a more shocking performance in my lifetime of watching Leicester. Bournemouth did not do anything for 90 mins and won 4-1. Deeney day was different, things like that happen sometimes and Watford played well that day, the game could've gone either way.

We had this game absolutely in both hands and Bournemouth were not interested in it.

I don't know what's so hard to understand about the original post. Obviously we've had worse moments as a club, but we went from being 1-0 up to 2-1 down with 10 men in two minutes.

The only one that's comparable is Deeney.
