I noticed the other promoted team Beerschot are doing really well too, currently second!

Is the gap between Division 1 & 2 in Belgium relatively small or is this unexpected?

let's say several 1B teams were better than some 1A teams in the second column of the table. (Beerschot, OHL, Union, Westerlo). There's a lot of money being spent in 1B as it was really tough league to get promoted.

"OH Leuven secured their first-ever win over Belgian giants Standard Liege thanks to the performances of two Leicester City loanees".

Ghanaian midfielder Kamal Sowah scored his first goal of the season as OH Leuven's good start to life back in the top flight continued with three points against Liege

Midfielder Kamal Sowah, on loan at Leuven from City for a fourth straight season, scored the only goal of the game, making a darting run into the box before finishing into the bottom corner with 15 minutes to play.

At the other end, goalkeeper Daniel Iversen kept a clean sheet, his first since heading over to Belgium on loan, the Dane producing a point-blank reaction save early on.

Liege were unbeaten and second in the table before heading to Leuven, but Marc Brys’ side triumphed over the 10 men, and now sit seventh five games into the campaign, despite being one of the newly-promoted sides.

For Sowah, his first goal of the campaign continued his excellent form, with the 20-year-old Ghanaian having registered an assist in each of the previous two fixtures.

He started on the left wing at the weekend, another new position for a player who has previously played as a defensive midfielder, as a right winger, and in behind the striker.

He said after his goal earned the three points: “Couldn’t be happier to get my first league goal in a new season and get the three points in front of the fans for the first time in a very long time.

“It was so great to feel the energy and support in the stadium. Let’s keep it moving on to the next match.”

What are the chances we could get Benkovic on loan for the season? They have already sent Iversen instead of loaning him to a championship team...

He's injured (yet again), no idea what the prognosis is on that. Not sure he would last very long in Belgium with his fragility, haven't lots of your defenders picked up long term injuries?
