This is really good. Great effort.

Currently listening to it. Seems a decent listening but Matt Mills keeps getting interrupted which is really annoying

Mills comes across as a nice enough guy on the podcast, but seems to shift blame quite a lot. I'm sure a lot of what he says about league positions is untrue as well.

Can't imagine Nige will ever want to go into his account of the incident.

Crazy to think that Mills, Danns and Beckford all ended up in the same Bolton team.

He seems genuine enough on the podcast, which I also thought was good.

He does contradict himself regarding how he was seen by the fans though. He admits that he had showed a lot of confidence/arrogance and had a bit of a swagger. Doing that in front of 30,000 people is going to get you a reputation. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but he has to see why people thought he was cocky (or even arrogant). It comes with the territory of his footballing persona.

Thanks for your feedback.

Didn’t mean it in a horrible way at all. I really enjoyed the listen and insight. Just seemed a lot of times Mills was elaborating on stuff and he was interrupted and it went off to the next talking point.

Think perhaps it could have been phrased better but I wasn’t being sarcastic in my response. If something I was doing is annoying you, I’d prefer to know obviously! Rather hear criticism in all honesty as gives me something to work with.

There was something for me, and it’s something I notice myself doing (albeit with a different phrase). It was the amount of times you said ‘sort of’. I started noticing that more and more rather than actually listening to the content.

Not a dig, as I know interviewing and public speaking isn’t the easiest. Especially when speaking to someone very senior (or a pro footballer in this case).

Really enjoyed the podcast and listened to a few more off of the back of that. I’ll look forward to the next one.

Yeah, that’s completely fair as I know it’s something I can slip in to doing! Another one to add to the list of things to prevent myself saying haha!

Would prefer to hear it than you not say anything in order to not offend so thank you!

Glad you enjoyed enough to listen to a few more too!

Do you want a hug? :kissing:

I love Pearson, said in another post I think he is brilliant in rebuilding, and my version of football management god!!

But Anyone dismissing some of his “alleged” behaviour, and general bully type antics, are pretty ignorant people in my opinion. If it was in their workplace, I’m sure they would have a different view.

Bullying is one of those phrases that is beginning to lose meaning because its over used. I dont know if Pearson is/was a bully or not. I do however know that some people see bullying, when there have just been hard truths uncompromisingly put and because seeing that as bullying by somebody else feels better for them than accepting the truth of what was put to them about themselves.

I enjoyed the podcast.

He seems like a genuinely nice guy. Shame he's fallen out of love out of football because of the culture of it, but I guess he won't be the only person to do that.

Fair enough, again wasn’t meant maliciously at all.

Agree...

Ultimately none of us know what happened. So a lot of it is rumour and conjecture.

But “if” true, even his first comment allegedly  to Mills “your not as fat as you look” To me is bullying.

I think he's genuinely not a bad person but just part of a very poorly thought out signing. Listening to that he was never captain material which isn't necessarily a slight on him, he is what he is. I feel like in other circumstances Mills and Pearson could've actually gotten on.

That said I do think there's a bit of revisionism from him. We weren't as high in the table as he said, his performances hadn't been that good, I don't think he's as good as Morgan (I do get what he means mind, there's less between them ability wise than their careers suggest) and also you have to question why he's never really recovered it.

It's definitely worth listening to though, he's probably got a quite unfair reputation.

I know we're biased but Morgan is a much better player than Mills. Maybe not Premier League to League Two now difference but Morgan is far better on the ball and also defensively. Mills was criticised by Reading fans for hoofing it a lot.

Of course Wes has benefitted from quality partners like Wasilewski, Huth, Evans, Soyuncu but we signed a defender who'd been in the Championship team of the year eight months before and who bullied Matt Fryatt at the City Ground in 2009. I think a bigger issue with Morgan was his fitness, he certainly looked fitter whilst with us.

Possibly Pearson would've got on with Mills in another time, but he is someone who changes his view. Schmeichel said that Pearson told him he wasn't sure about him but he'd won him over- Mills must've been a negative influence or something.

I’m pretty sure Mills was on the radio very soon after he got sold.

Unless this is the same interview?

He basically said Pearson shat on him big style...wouldn’t talk to him, wouldn’t answer phone calls etc.

I always imagine Big Nige to be a complete bar steward to those he’s mind his mind up he doesn’t like

Probably why he’s failed everywhere else in recent times.

Pearson is a managerial dinosaur.... you just can’t manage people this way anymore

But he’s loved by many on this forum, no doubt about that

And by plenty of the players he's managed, too.

Of course he would be

Pearson I imagine is a ‘camp former’

If you’re inside the tent spitting out, you’ll love the man.

But if you’re not in the ‘in-camp’ I imagine your life would be made awful.

Mills was clearly out of favour right from the start so he had to go

And as I said, managing people this way has become ever more difficult.
