Leicester vs Zorya Luhansk match thread

It’s simple regarding the bench, BR has named every fit and available player in our

sqiad on the bench.

Yes that includes two keepers, we do love to make a big deal out of small irrelevant things on here don’t we.

There weren’t any younger players who would have benefited from exposure to a matchday experience?

Fair enough but feels like when Pep didnt name a full bench the game after we refused to sell them Mahrez. Making a point that the squad isn't big enough. Not saying he's wrong but if he is just trying to make a point, seems silly when a youth player could gain vital experience of playing in europe if we get a comfortable lead and put them on. Missing 1 u23 game wouldnt be the end of the world for a player and wouldnt make the u23 team any weaker

We aren't the only club that haven't named a full bench, Roma have named 9, Arsenal have named 10, Levekusen have named 10, Napoli have named 10, all who have also named 2 keepers

With our current injury record Rodgers would probably prefer for our youth players to be playing 90 mins (rather than potentially 5 mins off the bench) so they stay at least some level of match fit so if we get that desperate they can then feature on the bench in later games

I’m guessing this is to do with the first team bubble, and not tracking all youth team players and their contacts.

Fair enough. I always look for the negatives 🤣

U23’s play tomorrow? If so, likely best candidates would be there.

He must be taking the piss to put two keepers on the bench. Seriously just stick a kid on there, in fact there is no reason not to put Thomas on the bench?

That’s a Mourinho trick for when he’s telling his bosses he’s not happy with the transfer window or his squad depth. BR has learnt from the master.

One of them couldn’t have sat in the bench and got an experience that is wasted on two reserve goalkeepers? They don’t even have to play! They would have been experiencing and sampling a match day. Surely that would be better?

All:  Thank you for the further information concerning twelve players allowed for the bench.  I definitely did not know that.

In light of that, naming two keepers is not so strange.

Don’t encourage us, we shall become utterly intolerable.  :nono:

First team and youth teams are kept in seperate bubbles to protect the players, also why Thomas isn't on the bench as he is isolating

Maybe, would have been a wonderful experience for someone, admittedly you would want if for the most deserving and maybe they are needed for the u23’s

Or maybe Rodgers is just being a bit of a dick. :dunno:

Two keepers on the bench?

My fault, I sent Brendan a DVD of our F.A.Cup 1/4 Final V Shrewsbury to enrich his knowledge of our barmy history.

Seriously though, imagine the regret in the very unlikely event of Kasper getting injured and his replacement getting sent off or vice versa and we had two empty places on the bench.....it's an insurance policy but of the most cautious kind.

Statement a day ago from Rodgers...

Under may have to be patient

Cengiz Under is now the only one of Leicester City's three summer signings to not make a start for the club, but he may have to remain patient.

The Turkish winger is still trying to get to the right fitness level, said manager Brendan Rodgers, who hinted that he would gradually increase the 23-year-old's game-time.

“Just in terms of football fit, he needed to get up to speed,” said the boss. "He’s adapting to our training and work and over the next few weeks, he’ll get some more game-time.

“He looks good in training, but naturally it takes a little bit of time when players move to a new country, and settling in, so I anticipate over the next few weeks, his game-time will be more than what it’s been.”
