First tarantula of the year wandered into the living room this evening. Given the weather and the swarms of flies, suspect it'll be a bumper year for the things.

Not generally bothered by them, but wife was half way up the stairs when it made it's entrance.

Although I'm by no means a climate change denier, the obsession with temperature in the news is actually crazy.

I read this morning that temperatures "reached 26 degrees celsius" on Sunday at Notting Hill carnival, as if that means something. That's not even 80 fahrenheit! Why even mention it!?!

Yeah, just stating the temperature at one place and time isn't really useful.

There needs to be more reportage on the effects of the consistent temperature increase, such as UK farmers struggling with reduced crop yields due to more flooding and drought for the nth year running.

Brits are obsessed with the weather, when it's hot, it's news worthy. When it's cold it's news worthy. I can imagine every office this morning began with people talking about the weather. Brits choose holiday destinations solely based on the weather.

'Let's go to Tenerife'

'Sure, what is there to do?'

'Nothing, but it's hot'

'I'm in'

Can’t get through to my GP despite multiple attempts at 8am, navigating an impossible online booking system - so ring 111 and get an appointment at 12:30 at George Elliott to scan my ankle I’ve rolled, turn up and it’s basically just join the back of the Q.

What is the point - why even offer an appointment if that’s the case where there is clearly a misunderstanding between 111 and the hospital.

NHS is completely broken unless you have a medical emergency.

Why is / was the banker on Deal Or No Deal presented as a villain? The guy was never working against the player, he was simply offering a fair sum based on events that unfolded

Commie propaganda. They live in some kind of commune where obviously they don't work and slag off genuine wealth creators like the Banker. Also, red = good.

There's a nice view of the green in front of our house from our baby daughter's bedroom. I love pointing out the trees and the field to her when she gets up. It makes her smile.

I can't do that tomorrow morning now because some cvnt's decided this evening a flag cable tied to a lamppost looks better. Fvck off.

Wear thicker clothes!

Damn!

Why didn't I think of that? I've been turning the heating up all these years.

On a serious note: it does seem unfortunate that folk need to be given this sort of common sense advice these days.

Sadly, some do but I doubt that those very people read the BBC website.

Or they have to see such an idea on X or FB before they even think about it.

Taylor Swift getting engaged to some American footballer is the first item on BBC radio 2 news.

WHY!!!!!!!

Today programme on R4 this morning, ended a conversation with a climate scientist with a curt, 'Sorry we have to leave it there'. They then mentioned TS's engagement and actually played out with one of her tracks.

I tell ya civilisation, as we know it, is on a very slippery slope.

Western civilisation, perhaps. I'm of the thought that the Chinese, to say but one, are doing just fine.

She is a megastar.  I expect the Beatles getting hitched was quite big news back in your day! :)

This assumes you can believe anything at all published by the CCP.  Which is doubtful.
