He'll go to the world cup.

LB is wide open. He just needs to play for the next 11 months and he'll be in.

People said the same about how Barnes was 100% going to the Euros, as he was going to dislodge Sterling and that Barnes was a certainty to go to the Euros last summer too. A few good games for a Leicester player and a couple of poor games for established England players and Leicester fans seem to demand that our players should be going to major tournaments for England.

If Chilwell and Shaw are fit I'd be very surprised if he goes in only 11 months time, someone more established like Cresswell as well will be ahead of him very likely, as could well be James Justin from our own club. Good chance that when 2 or 3 of Justin, Ricardo and Castagne are all back fully fit, Thomas won't even be starting for Leicester anymore by then as it is.

Southgate loves players who have come through the English youth group system. Played pretty much every level and captained a few age groups too. Gareth will be besotted with him.

But he already has 2 established left-backs who have done well for England (regardless of Shaw's form this season for club) as well as established right-backs like Walker and Trippier also being capable of playing there and the full-back areas is one where England have been strongest in the past couple of tournaments. not to mention Cresswell has been one of the best creators in the Premier League over the past couple of seasons and has improved massively. Also, let's be honest, Thomas wouldn't even be starting for us right now if our other 3 full-backs were all fully fit.

He's doing well, but saying he will go to the World Cup with certainty seems very presumptuous and very "Leicester" to me, it was exactly the same fans with some fans on here last season with Barnes people saying he would definitely go to the Euros in the summer ahead of Sterling because Sterling was in poor form, despite the fact Sterling had been one of the best attacking players in Europe for the previous 3 seasons.

I'd say there's an outside chance Thomas will go maybe, but it very likely requires at least 2 or 3 other players to be injured.

I would say Barnes is our most likely England candidate , he is unlike any other available attacking players. Of course a few goals before the end of the season will help.  When he is running at players he is a genuine danger man with his ability to go either way and outpace defenders. Luke has got a number of years to work on his strength and positional game and then he should get his chance.

Well as the Telegraph article says, Southgate is set to call him up so its down to Thomas to take his chance. Chilwell is out for several months and Shaw is currently bang out of form so there's a gap opened up. I agree on Cresswell but Southgate doesn't seem overly keen, probably because he's in his 30's.

James Justin was in exactly the same position though. I'd Ricardo was fit, he'd not have been first choice and wouldn't have grown to the player he is. Castagne has been dog mess this season and Ricardo is regularly injured so Thomas will have very little trouble continuing his progression in our 1st team. His form these last few months have really been very impressive. He's going to be a great player for us for many years.

Barnes problem is that left wing spot has several other very talented players vying for it. Left or right back there's not that much choice on form and availability. Maddison may well be hard to ignore once again, he's the standout ACM this season with Gallagher.

Maddison is comfortably ahead of any other English player for goal contributions this season.

He's been hands down the best English attacking player in the league since October and probably the 2nd or 3rd best attacking player in the division after Salah and maybe Jota after his opening poor couple of months.

Maddison absolutely should be in the next England squad, certainly ahead of someone like Gallagher atm and is absolutely our player most in the driving seat to go to the WC right now.

You'd assume Mount would definitely be one of the 2 attacking midfielders likely to go if Southgate sticks to the 4-2-3-1, right now Maddison has to be favourite for that 2nd attacking midfielder place though.

Edit: Sorry quoted the wrong post, was meant to reply to An Sionnach.

Thomas will be better than Chilwell he’s actually got a footballing brain. I’d play him at every time when he’s fit, not many have kept Salah out the games this season and he did. Not surprised he’s been watching him.

Luke needs to spend the summer doing leg days with KDH. If he can develop some speed and power in his running he'll be a hell of a player.

Easy to forget how young he is because it feels like he's been around for ages now.

Already a Leicester City fan top player.

Runs his absolute socks off, all game and has real developing qualities

His defensive side is improving all the time. Gets in better positions and times his tackles better. Likewise going forward. He links up particularly well with barnes but also KDH when he plays. Obviously the connection with the development team is paying dividends.
