Turkey is basically dry chicken with less flavour, don't see the point. Turkey is also more expensive, just get a big chicken, or 2 chickens

Not having that. Cook it properly! Stick a load of butter under the skin to soak through the breast and put it on a trivet of veg with at least a bottle of good quality cider, then regularly baste it.

Taste sensation, moist as my Mrs looking at Brad Pitt

Turkey is only dry if it is badly cooked. Turkey should be moist and succulent, and cooked low and slow.

Put butter under the skin (between the skin and the meat) and a halved orange or lemons inside to steam it from inside.

Leg of Lamb (bought for boxing day but now it's just us I'm not chucking any more cash at meat)

Roast Potatoes in with the lamb (yum).

Roast Parsnip / Carrot / Sweet Potato

Brussels with bacon lardons and chestnuts

Cauliflower Cheese

Lamb Bisto Best gravy with added Lamb juices

Pigs in blankets

Yorkshire puddings

Bread onion and herb Stuffing (Homemade)

Quite simply the king of roast meats. Others in my household don't agree, so it's usually only reserved as tradition for Easter Sunday. Covered in a garlic and rosemary butter.

A bag of flour isn't dry if you have to add a stick of a butter, a bottle of cider and a fvcking fruit bowl to it either!

I tried this once.

Put the Turkey in the oven about 9am on a low heat and took it out about 1.30pm figuring that was plenty of time.

Placed in on the table in front of 8 hungry guests and got my old man to carve it up.

Imagine my surprise when the fvcker was still pink inside and needed at least another hour in the oven

You are a man of taste. Pretty much the same as mine.

Does anyone have starters and dessert?

When I was a kid, we'd have prawn cocktail, in a wine glass to start and a Vienetta for dessert lol

Is nobody else having goose? That's proper English tradition.

Never actually tried it. Love cooking, but I think the amount of fat that comes off it puts me off, or am I wrong about that? Same with roast duck, although I love a duck breast.

I buy goose fat for my roasted potatoes on Xmas day though!

I had it last year but won’t bother this time as it’s only 5 of us now and I can’t really be arsed.

Tonnes of fat renders off, true enough. You just take it out the oven and empty the pan. I put it into a tub and refrigerate to use on roasties during the year.

I've got the turkey and done my Sainsburys click and collect...

I've got a 7kg Turkey  that'll be cooked on a trivet of leeks in Henry Weston cider and covered in unsmoked streaky bacon.

Homemade pigs in blankets with chipolatas and streaky bacon.

Goose fat Roast potatoes.

Mash potatoes.

Red cabbage braised in red wine, with apple, cinnamon and walnuts.

Brussels sprouts with pancetta.

Honey roasted parsnips and chantenay carrots.

Brocoli.

Cauliflower cheese.

Homemade sausage meat, sage and onion stuffing.

Homemade yorkies.

Homemade gravy.

Cranberry sauce.

And I've gone to town on a cheeseboard and port for dessert!

It's all about the dinner for me, love it!

You bunch of Christmas dinner cooking twats.  I've made sprouts as part of my regular diet because they're cheap and tasty and underappreciated so there's always plenty in the shops.  Except when Christmas rolls around and all you sprouts posers who've been ignoring them all year gobble up all the stock and leave me none to go in my fry up tomorrow morning.  All so you can have your yearly conversation about how you hate them while you eat them, or alternatively how you're sooo unique because you like them, but either way you won't touch them again for another full year and I'll be going without.  Merry Xmas sprouts posers.

Maybe if you weren't at home eating sprouts for breakfast dinner and lunch you'd have got some in time

I've become a regular sprout eater, they're decent. I tend to cook them in the oven 25 minutes, covered in mint sauce and butter. Lovely when they crisp up a bit

Next time you're cooking bacon, slice a few sprouts up with some mushrooms and a bit of garlic then fry it all in the bacon grease and a bit of soy sauce.  Divine.
