So much is made of a few comments at the end, it's complete nonsense. England didn't want to be out there and fair enough, India wanted to bat on and fair enough. I'm not sure I've seen England crying much after it like has been suggested. They shook hands and moved on, the coverage after the game has just been about a few words said in the middle - as Nasser said after the game 'far, far too much is made of this'.

It amazes me these lads don't chat more nonsense to be honest - I get bored watching a session without a wicket, imagine how tired they are.

Completely amazed that India aren't under more pressure tbh....2 wins in 12, a coach who chats utter rubbish and throws his staff under the bus....no wonder Gill is looking a bit frazzled at times - he's actually coping with it pretty well. I think it's actually a compliment to England how much India celebrated yesterday, and for all the chat of our bowlers being average and struggling, it's easy to forget how average Siraj and Bumrah looked in the first innings.

Indeed!

To be fair, some of the players and even pundits have alluded to the fact that there's a lot of emotion between two strong teams going full on to beat each other. There's bound to be some heat out there and some controversial moments. But media and fans, ourselves probably included, make more out of it.

I made a point earlier that if anything, it's all done out of respect. There's a lot of passion and emotion when on the pitch. The players are fired up and sometimes emotions boil over by the time the 4th and 5th day come around.

Regarding the final point, we're probably in a period of transition - entering a series without Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Ashwin has retired. There's a hell if a lot if wickets and runs missing from the side. Over time Gill, Pant, Jaiswal will be the senior players but they need the time. Rahul and Jadeja are probably the most senior and they're performances show it.

Fair enough. I think there'd be a certain amount of fans, in any test series, that would celebrate a draw that means you wouldn't lose a test series and keep you in it for the 5th test..

Thought it looked fun to be honest. Like I'm all for the traditions of test cricket and everything but why the forced solemnity, why not have a bit of a dance and sing along.

Aren't England too though? Anderson, Broad and Bairstow all moving on, a completely new bowling attack and missing arguably 2 of our first three seamers in Wood and Atkinson?

You've not said it but its made me laugh when India are referred to as a 'young Indian side' when England are a younger side. I get the point people are trying to make but it probably highlights why the Aussies are so flipping good - they're never in transition for very long.

They will be in the next 2 years as their first choice bowling attack are all the wrong side of 30. Even their batting is creeping that way, Smith 36, Khawaja 38, added to the loss of David Warner. Even Head and Webster are in their 30’s albeit early and have a good few years left in them.

Been waiting all summer for the day of cricket I'm going to on Friday.

Forecast? Rain ffs.

Three days of rain forecast and Surrey have managed one result there all season. Feels like it could be a bit of a damp squib.

Draw. Handshakes all round and England win the series

In all honesty, what a shit way it'd be to end the series after the drama we've had in all 4 tests so far.

Will be looking forward to the ODIs and T20s next summer!

Gambhir has picked a fight with a groundsman who's about twice the size of him 🤣

Really stupid comments. I know groundsmen can be officious, but belittling the guy like that was just needless.

Particularly after saying his team play for 'the common man in India'. I think hes out of a job next week to be honest. 2 wins in 12, and no series win in 3 cannot be good enough for a nation as big as India.

Stokes out of the 5th test. Pope captain and Bethell in.

Along with Tongue, Atkinson & Overton for Dawson, Archer & Carse.

Posted

1. Crawley

2. Duckett

3. Pope (c)

4. Root

5. Brook

6. Bethell

7. Smith (wk)

8. Woakes

9. Atkinson

10. Overton

11. Tongue

Has to go down as one of the weakest 11s I have seen England put out in a test match.

Not at all sold on Jamie Overton but would love to be proven wrong. Potts and the oddly sidelined Robinson would surely be better bets.

Looking forward to seeing Bethell bat however going without a first-rate spinner leaves a lot of work for those seamers, particularly Woakes who looks exhausted.

Fresh bowlers to hit us though!

Tongue and Atkinson can certainly do some damage.

I'm presuming you weren't around during the entirety of the 90s and early 2000s? :D

Overton did well with the bat last time he was in the team.

Worry about taking 20 wickets, but then it's been a push all summer anyway.

Watch it be the only pitch that has spun all summer.

Personally, I'm hoping for a rain affected match.

I think Potts is injured & Robinson just seemed to be unfit & struggled to last 5 days of Test cricket.

Potts currently playing for Durham. Accept their point on Robinson but even with that fitness risk I would like to see him given another shot. Has a fantastic record in test matches.
