Graham Thorpe has  passed away aged 55.

Had been unwell for sometime .

Very sad obviously.

One of the mainstays of the England team in the 90s and usually the one saving it .

Probably one of the best .

Superb player. So sad to hear of his passing at such a young age. RIP Thorpey.

Thorpe was a joy to watch, reminded me of Gower when he was in full flow. Very sad news and only a few years older than me.

ECB won’t be happy to see the England captain carried off with an injury .

Doubt they'll care as long as it happened during their lame duck vanity project.

Cricketing Gods hate the hundred.

Maybe the ECB will give Durham -100 point deduction as punishment.

I presume that means they'll give Jordan Cox a go and play 4 seamers (meaning Bashir will get dropped). Lawrence then goes as the spinner.

Demonstrates how unique Stokes is to everything. Be a big test to see how they go without him. Gutted for him.

They will be genuinely more bothered he will miss this than the Test series.

Poor guy suffering like that .

And his family obviously .

I know he was coaching but did this all occur after he stopped and then struggled with coping about not being involved in the game ?

Sounds like Thorpe threw himself in front of a train according to the inquest :(

Got this shite on for the first time this summer.

Ok, I'm never gonna be persuaded but the tv coverage and the sporting jeopardy is absolute shite. Total absolute shite. It's cricket Susan Whelan would invent.

It really ain't that hard to revive/win new interest in cricket.

Lol, now there's some (pretty decent) indie band on at half time playing to a bemused audience who aren't taking a.blind bit of notice.

Edit.

Lol, literally zero applause.

To give this some context tho, it's equivalent to that **** Agnew having a bowling net session on stage prior to the band doing a gig at the Brixton Academy

Mate, this will save English cricket. Indian billionaires are queueing up to buy this.

Tell me the business model. Nobody is interested in this thing. The money men are looking, for sure. Problem is, they are looking but can't see how to monetise it. It's bankrupt, in every sense.

It's bollocks. These teams play for three weeks a year. They don't own the grounds. They don't own the players. Not all the best players play in it. Tickets are given away.

You will never make it a huge thing in this country. Cricket isn't the most popular sport and we have no idea about the true levels of fanbase.

I genuinely cannot believe the ECB have gone all in on this, to the point of moving The Ashes, the biggest series in the game, to accommodate it. And now they want Indian businessmen to basically take it over.

I’ve been to one game and the actual in ground production is decent and a step up from county cricket. However the format is crap, and all the other issues surrounding it means that it will lose fans eventually rather than gain them
