Been a rather eventful game so far.

lost 2 wickets early then salt and vince went on the attack.

Currently having a middle order collapse and are 175/7

Gregory and Carse in. Gregory only knows how to play one way so will need Carse to keep calm on his first ever international bat!

Times have definitely changed. England used to drag in any number of county players and look like a shambles- now they do it and win convincingly twice.

Mahmood is going to be a serious pace bowler across all formats for us. Thought he looked a bit raw against Ireland last summer, pace was there but he was a little wayward and leaked too many runs.

He's properly sharpened up his act over the winter. Watched him in the Roses game and was mightily impressed and he's backed that up with two cracking performances so far in the ODIs. Puts the ball in areas that really troubles batsmen and gets the ball to nip both ways.

Just remember guys any young kid growing up in say Plymouth like Lewis Gregory did is about to completely miss on watching the ECBs new premier domestic competition live.

His crisp franchise would be Cardiff. A trip to Taunton is just about doable from Plymouth for a family to take in a first class game.

For all the waffle about aiming it at families, the Birmingham based franchise are throwing tickets at corporate companies - which will just lead to the same criticism of the Blast aka it’s a piss up

For what it’s worth mate, I think we’ve just got to suffer through this season and see it flop, it’ll be hamstrung by the pandemic too.

I compared it to that mental “city cricket” thing… honestly think we’ll only see it once… maybe twice at a push.

Then hopefully the ECB get the message and just add a bit of franchise/bidding type fun to the blast. Still can’t believe that wasn’t the choice at the time!

The shitshow continues.

First point: "We're getting rid of overs."

Last point: "Here's our policy on over-rates."

It'd be funny if they hadn't spaffed so much money on it.

So basically it is 20 overs with 5 balls per over instead of six?

All these alleged new fans are going to be delighted when they realise they to have learn about the other set of rules of the sport this is supposed to be getting them into.

Why is a white card being held up after the first five balls and presumably only that first five?

Why even have a rule about the toss? Are they going to do it down the pub instead? In Abu Dhabi?

Why do they think people are too stupid to work out things in sixes?

(Do quite like the lose a fielder for a slow over rate though.)

It's just insane. "We'll get household names to captain the sides but make them invisible to the new fans pre-match."

Feels like its sole purpose is now to wind up existing cricket fans - and, in the case of women and children, thoroughly patronise them too.

That's what I thought.

T20 but 'overs' have changed.

I don't get the white card thing. What's the point in it? What is the purpose?

Agreed about the toss too. Pointless change. If it ain't broke...

Also not sure if they got it wrong in the game, but I played this trash on “cricket captain” and after 5 balls at one point you didn’t actually have to change the bowler… like because you don’t change ends that bowler can bowl ten balls in a row if they want.

Might have been a glitch but could also be another mad rule to look out for.

No, that is a genuine rule. Another one that's actually more complicated than the status quo too.

Was gonna say, any quick worth their salt will be telling their captain to fvck off if they're asked to do two overs (or whatever they are) in a row.

Pleased for him. Exactly the innings we all know he can play.

Great support from Gregory too, another one making the most of his chance.
